In two separate incidents, as many as 15 teens have stormed Chicago Transit Authority buses, attacked their victims and darted off with cell phones and other electronic devices, authorities said Tuesday.
Both incidents were near the University of Illinois at Chicago campus, prompting city and campus authorities to issue community alerts.
In the first attack, near West Roosevelt Road and South Loomis Street at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday, a victim was struck multiple times before the thieves ran off with his cell phone.
About 25 minutes later, near South Racine Avenue and West 13th Street, a student said he was sitting on a No. 12 bus when as many as 15 black boys and young men boarded the bus without paying. The student was hit in the back of his head with a glass bottle and was robbed of his iPod, said UIC police.

While I think armed response by would-be victims would eventually put a stop to this stuff, it could get dicey pulling a gun on a bus...I carry pretty regularly and it occurred to me that I might not be prepared to deal with this sort of scenario.
my kid got attacked by a couple black kids at a backyard party of one of his classmates. One held him and the other one hit him. I’m not happy about it.
You know Obama wants us all to go to mass transit. No way in hell my wife and kids are on buses with savages.

Get your back against an unmovable object or into a corner and start shooting. Aim for the gut so hopefully you’ll hit two targets instead of just one. If you are concerned about the backstop (innocents), crouch and aim upward.
We could see a rerun of the race riots of the ‘60s. Sadly it could be a long hot summer.
The youth gangs at some point will go too far, and then deadly violence will happen. If they are going to come up out of the South Side, and the West Side, and cause mayhem in the Loop, Oak St. beach, Gold Coast, etc. then the elites will demand action be taken.
Sadly, the business of private security is probably going to be a booming business if these wilding flash mobs become an everyday occurence.
A mob attacks and beats you (and others), and you are willing to bet your life and the life of your wife or children that murder may not be the aim/result of a mob attack?
Mob attacks by definition are deadly. You have no control over them. You are not required to suffer a mob beating to “avoid” escalating the situation. The mob escalated the situation.
To avoid “escalating” the situation, you will be required to be beaten mercilessly by the mob, and at some point, the odds are you WILL become defenseless and unable to defend yourself. . . too late then to do anything about it. But at least you didn't escalate the situation.
Of course, if you wish to put your life in the hands of a riotous mob and trust them NOT to murder or injure you, your wife, your child, that is your choice.
Bottom line: you have the right to defend yourself, up to and including the use of deadly force.
I think you’d have a good chance with a jury. It may come down to “them or me”. Things will get worse.
You're probably right there...I was thinking more of how to ward off the thugs without hitting an innocent, given the close proximity, chaos, etc.

A permit is not required to carry a handgun in one’s vehicle with the glovebox/console door closed. Easy to carry one’s protection unlike in the Windy City.

Why are blacks, as a group, so violent?
Haven’t we as a society done all we can to ensure equal rights under the law?
Doesn’t the fact that Obama was elected show that the racial barriers of the past have been broken down?
What exactly fuels the rage of these people? And why are they now coming up out of the South Side and the West Side and threatening everyone in nicer areas????? What do they hope to accomplish??
Do they think that their behavior incites fear and racism in people, or do they think that their behavior incites good feelings towards black people?
Do these feral “youth” think at all?

Situational awareness is key. Human wolfpacks like to prey on people who are distracted, lost in thought, or otherwise unaware of their surroundings. This allows the wolfpack to approach and surround the target before the target is aware.
The only way out at that point is to respond with extreme violence, and have an extra mag or two.
