Huma Abedin, devastated, but still committed to her husband New York Rep. Anthony Weiner, has told friends she hopes to help him survive the sexting scandal amidst calls for his resignation.

Friends say that Abedin, who is a top aide to Hillary Clinton, did know that Weiner had a "problem" before their marriage, but he promised he was past that.

Weiner, 46, and Abedin, 34, have only been married 11 months.

Abedin, say friends and colleagues, still believes she can salvage his political career and wants to help him do that. She has been leaning and getting advice from her boss, Hillary Clinton, and her sister, say friends.

Power (and continued access to it) over morality and loyalty.

That speaks as much for her (thirst for continued elite, high level DC access) as his Weiner-ness.

Sick.

But not unexpected. These are often marriages of convenience to begin with.

Of course she does. There’s only one reason she married him in the first place. Well, two reasons. Nonetheless, it is a marriage of convenience...a sham...all the way ‘round.

Meanwhile, about 90 percent of readers at NYPost.com responded “yes” yesterday to the question: “Should Rep. Anthony Weiner resign?”

Anthony Weiner’s female twitter-pals might be getting a little nervous about now.

To which the Democratic Party replied, "To hell with what the people want!"

Won't last. Give it a week or two. The polls will all say he's supported by a huge majority.

Don't forget, the word went out yesterday to deep-six Weiner. That meant the poll methodology was switched from "support the Democrat" to "knock the living crap out of the Democrat." Pelosi let it be known. Reid let it be known. The MSM networks went to work with their new marching orders.

When the Democrat leadership realizes that he's going to pull it out, they'll rally around him. Backroom deals will get done. You don't mention this anymore, I won't let the cat out of the bag about that, let's get back to job #1, which is trashing Republican sub-humans by any means necessary.

No, he's not.

I sure hope you're right. It might be better for us if he survives, though.

Another Hillary.

The man is a pig but the women stand by them because what they care about is money and influence. Actually, I understand this. Why should the woman give things up becausew the man is a schmuck?
