Well that would make gas 4.46 cents a gallon. Close to 5 bucks. I was just getting happy that the gas was getting cheaper and cheaper everyday and now they want to raise the price. UGH!

I can’t boycott something I never purchased. I ONLY have purchased Toyotas and Hondas and will continue to do so. Very reliable cars that hopefully people will purchase in mass. Get rid of GM for sure. Ford is not really any better with regards to reliability.

WTF do you expect. This guy spent his entire career in the telecom business. Probably doesn’t even know where to put the gas in in any of “his” products.

RE :"
By taxing production, Akerson refers to the effort to raise the CAFE standards for average fuel efficiency. The Obama administration wants to push US automakers to stop producing so-called gas guzzlers, pushing the average efficiency to as high as 62 MPG by 2025. Akerson says that will add $3500 to the average price of cars, which will put US automakers in poor competitive position against their imported competition."
Ideally, I could see replacing the income tax with a gasoline (energy) tax increase but liberals want both taxes, and many voters prefer the idea that someone else pays so a gas tax is generally unpopular. Short term such a move wouldnt help the economy at all but it would long term.
My view on taxes : make them visible and make 'everyone' pay them, not just a small % of public. You want voters to learn that all the spending they demand comes at a cost TO THEM.

Ford is not really any better with regards to reliability. My 1997 Ford Escort with 250,000 miles on it that gets 30-35 mpg begs to differ ;^)

Pure brilliance. How about a 50% tax on pizza to encourage the consumption of healthier food? Maybe an X-box or Nintendo tax to encourage physical activity for youths? Wow, the possibilities are endless.

It is so easy to tell the average taxpayers to pay more in taxes when you are rolling in the dough with your million dollar paychecks. A huge increase would not even be noticed by you. Government Motors JERK!

Who’s up for a dollar more on gas? Our communists black Muslim King, that is who. Why stop there? Make it 10 a gallon and the civil war will start.
To: Gabz
Do keep in mind that Bill Ford also wants higher gas taxes.

Politicians and CEO's combining to take away all choices except for the "choices" they want us to make. People get sick of the gasoline and electric car games and choose to go to natural gas? Natural gas will soon see some piece of legislation increasing its cost.
This game is getting sick.
