The next day, I was there at the bus stop. As soon as my son got off the bus, there were 3 boys following him, taunting him. So I went up to them and asked if they were interested in picking on someone there own size.(I'm paraphrasing myself.) They quickly put 2 and 2 together and started stammering and stuttering. I explained that from now on, not only were they to treat him respectfully, they would also be responsible from making sure others treated him respectfully...and that I knew where they lived and would gladly visit their parents if they didn't behave. Every time they looked at my son, I wanted them to see my angry, red face. (It's what dads do.) One of the boys ended up being good friends with my son.
I broke a few noses and gained a reputation as a crazy person when angry.
Good for you! When stuff like this happens, dads need to step up and stop it. About 25 years ago my daughter was being tormented by a girl several years older. So I took off work and confronted the tormentor near the school. Told her I knew the path she took home and where she lived, and unless she stayed away from my daughter I would make sure the problem was solved. My daughter never got bothered by her again. I know, nowadays I'd probably get arrested by the PC people. But dads gotta do what is necessary.
