Mexico asks Texas to tone down travel warnings discouraging tourists from crossing border

AN ANTONIO — Mexico is asking Texas authorities to tone down travel warnings that broadly discourage tourists from crossing the border because of violence. The head of Mexico’s state-run tourism board on Wednesday was in Austin to meet with Texas Secretary of State Hope Andrade and law enforcement officials. Mexico wants Texas to stop portraying the entire country as unsafe in travel bulletins.

A spring break advisory in March cautioned Texans against traveling even to popular resort areas such as Cancun because of crime.

Rodolfo Lopez-Negrete, who runs Mexico’s tourism board, said travel to pockets like violent Ciduad Juarez is obviously unsafe. He said travelers should also use “common sense” when crossing into border cities like Reynosa or Nuevo Laredo.

But Lopez-Negrete said major resort destinations in the country remain safe....

My belly laugh for the day. I always thought Mexicans had a fairly good sense of irony, but I guess not. My Arizona friend says: "So sorry, Mr Calderon! Let's see ... instead of warning of the risk of being shot to death (as 15 Americans have in the past 10 mos. alone), should they be warned to avoid "hot lead exposure"? Puh-leeze. Hey Calderon, how about you "tone down" charges of racism when we just want to enforce our immigration laws like YOU do?"

Mexico needs to get its house in order.

And why isn’t the UN there investigating human rights violations?

Last my night my wife said “Thank God we got drugs from Canada and didn’t have to go to Mexico.” I reminded her we also need to thank FR since this is where I was given the link to the Canadian Pharmacy.

I was offered a free condo in a number of Mexican resorts.

I politely decline the invite.

Cruise ships are pulling out of Accapulco and moving into smaller cities like Huatulco because of the drug gangs. And bear in mind that Accapulco has a population of about 2 million people; and their main industry is tourism.

I find it amazing cowardice that a city with 2+ million citizens, can allow a gang with a couple hundred people ruin their livilihood. Even if the gangs had 10,000 members - they are outnumbered by at least 20:1.

Here’s a suggestion for a new tourist rental that could give Mexicans lots of jobs.

Kevlar Bulletproof vests on daily, weekly and monthly rentals in booths right across the border and in the incoming lounges of all Mexican airports.

Well, that would be between 98% and 87% if this source is to be believed.

In the modern West, according to major studies, 2% to 13% of the population are homosexual.

Frankly, I think it's closer to the 3% mark. I view Homosexuality as a genetic anormality (your view may differ, but let me explain), like a cleft palet, a club foot or other physical deformity. The percentage of people born with a physical deformity is in the 3% range; thus if we lump homosexuality in the same bin as other 'abnormalities' - the percentages seem to line up pretty close.

Naturally, your opinion may vary. Some view this as a conscious 'choice' rather than a predisposition.

Very few actually “choose” to be attracted to the same sex. Of course all sex acts are voluntarily engaged in. The Guttmacher Institute, which is a leftist organization, did some studies a few years ago and the actual number of those who consider themselves homosexuals is at or a bit under 2%.

Here’s a great article with a lot of links describing what causes homosexuality. It’s not genetic and although homosexual researchers have tried and tried to find biological or genetic factors, they have had to admit failure. THe fact that there are countless numbers of former homosexuals also is proof that is a mental illness that can be cured, with or without help.

Well, TX respectfully asks Mexico to tone down their unleashing of illegals into our country....

Also, if they could “tone down” that cartel violence, we might consider their request.
