Source: Weiner to Resign by Thursday... Democrat colleagues urging... ‘to preserve his own dignity’

Politisite is hearing  one source close to the Congressman  that  Weiner will resign by the end of the day or early Thursday.

A Marist poll by Weiners own constituents say he should  not resign by a  slim majority.

CNN is reporting that Privately colleagues are recommending that he resign quickly.

It was reported  that Weiners wife, Huma Abedin, is Pregnant adding to the family stress level.  Ironically Huma is with Secretary of State Clinton on Business who can probably help console Adedin during this time.

Democrat colleagues urging Weiner to resign ‘to preserve his own dignity’

A Democratic lawmaker familiar with discussions with and about Anthony Weiner tells CNN that Weiner’s colleagues are telling him this afternoon he should resign “to preserve his own dignity.”

This Democratic congressman says that this afternoon’s public call by Democratic Rep. Allyson Schwartz, D-Pennsylvania, for Weiner to resign is part of a new stepped up effort to force Weiner out. The source said the effort includes private and public calls explicitly telling him it’s time to leave Congress.

“There is increased resentment by his colleagues that far from having a press conference where he was going to tell the truth and roll with the flames, the flames are just getting worse and he’s dragging us through it. We really thought by now, after the press conference, we would be able to talk about the Republicans’ Social Security privatization bill and instead we keep talking about Anthony Weiner. And people are getting angrier and more resentful,” said the Democratic congressman.

The lawmaker would not speak for the record in order to discuss private conversations, and would not give the names of Weiner’s colleagues making these private calls.

I think it’s a little late for a guy whose penis is all over the internet to “preserve dignity”.

Someone else wrote: “I think that he will get 100% of his full salary as a congressman if he has served one (1) full term.”

You wrote: “He’s in his 7th term ...”

A full pension is available to Members 62 years of age with 5 years of service; 50 years or older with 20 years of service; or 25 years of service at any age. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congressional_pension.

Since Weiner is 46, he doesn’t meet any of these criteria. So he’ll qualify for a pension, but not a full pension. Wiki gives an example that roughly approximates Weiner’s case: “For example, a member of Congress who worked for 22 years and had a top three-year average salary of $153,900 would be eligible for a pension payment of $84,645 per year.” Since Weiner has served only 2/3 as long, his pension presumably would be even lower. So he won’t be in the poor house, but neither will he be living high on the hog.

Had he lasted 11 more years, he’d have qualified for a full pension, which apparently equals 80% of their salary upon retirement http://money.cnn.com/2006/01/20/commentary/wastler/wastler/index.htm Sounds to me like he’d be losing at least $100K a year for the rest of his life compared to retiring after 6 more terms. Then again, he had his eyes on NY governorship, so he likely would not ever have qualified for this higher amount anyway. So what he’s giving up if he retires is his political career, not retirement income from Congress.

FWIW, again from Wikipedia: “In 2003, after James Traficant was expelled from Congress, several Congressmen tried passing a bill that would prevent expelled members from receiving their pensions. The bill was stalled and eventually dropped after being sent to the House Administration and Reforms committee for review” Thus, even if he decided not to resign and waited around to get kicked out, this would not disqualify him from getting his pension!

Just how *much* would he have to do to “lose his dignity” for the Libs?

Get a job in the private sector.

LOL! Maybe after he resigns he can change his name, get a nose job and find another kind of work.

There used to be a clothing store in Houston named Weiners. My parents took me shopping there occasionally. Even when I was a kid the name of that store embarrassed me. BTW we ate wieners occasionally but we called them hot dogs.

ROTFL.
I can’t look at him or hear his name without laughing.
I think his employment options are limited at the moment, aside from a union job, but perhaps the union thugs won’t take kindly to his shenanigans...LOL....provided they’ve seen the photo.

“Whoever is interviewing him should call him a schmuck to his face and see what he does.”

Knowing him, I think he would misinterpret that as a request to expose himself again.

Maybe he can take his wife's name, Anthony Abiden, sounds good, then he can get a nose job. He needs one so badly I'll bet his insurance would pay for it. I'll bet that huge honker keeps him off balance and makes his wiener look small in comparison.

He (Weiner) is never going to grow up. He is a low life, “dirt bag” from head to toe!!! His wife, Huma was a moron to marry him!!! Of course, Hillary Clinton’s hand may have had a play in this hand, simply for the gratification of her own personal desires!!! You get it!!!

“Why the Thursday deadline....?”

I think party insiders were really pushing to get him out of public view once the x-rated pic leaked out to stop further fallout. But then Weiner leaked out the info last night that his wife was pregnant as a last-ditch attempt to save his job and to try to garner sympathy over it (pretty sad that his wife’s pregnancy is little more than a bargaining chip for him- but that’s who he is).

I’m guessing the source quoted in this article probably hadn’t yet heard the news about the pregnancy.
