Most people rely on information provided by daily newspapers and television networks to be aware of current events and how those events might affect their lives. Unfortunately, many media sources have become so “politically correct” and fearful of losing advertising that they no longer serve the public, but their dwindling bottom lines.
Many have heard that the Federal Reserve gave some media such as MSNBC “bail-out” money, thereby compromising their reporting. Their credibility is down the tubes. Other television is compromised with huge sums of advertising from mostly big pharma and other large multi-national companies like BP. Will they report on the adverse affects of many of the new drugs being released or continue to perpetrate the myth that a pill can and will fix anything imaginable, like the newly found “restless leg” syndrome, one of many newly formed diagnoses that purportedly will be mitigated with a pill? Or, do you hear about the damage in the Gulf of Mexico from the BP oil spill and their “clean-up” with toxic chemicals like you did with the Exxon-Valdeze spill that pales in comparison?
Does our government or big corporations care if the news media fails and the public is no longer informed? On the contrary, they couldn’t care less and there are some who would celebrate the loss of transparency to the public. In fact, that has essentially already happened.

This line shows that the guy has a lot to learn. He may even be clueless. The MSM has been putting the "Progressive" agenda ahead of the bottom line for years.
Why does he think Fox is doing so well?
You probably are not aware that CNN is more expensive per minute of advertising than Fox. Besides, you obviously did not get his point which is valid...media is pressured and oftentimes does lose advertising accounts because of political content. Look at who does not advertise on Becks show for example...
This “guy” could teach you volumes about the newspaper business...so don’t be so cocky in something you obviously have little experience or knowledge in.
The other item you missed in this wonderful article is that the Publisher, Tom Kocal even stands up for the democrat party when an unethical action is taken up by the local government. Tom is a conservative Tea Party activist who among other protests went to the Chicago Tea Party on April 15th, 2008. This man is all about ethics and courage. Read and learn marktwain...but to do that you have to be able to discern what you read...
I did not see any unethical action. A Democrat resigned. Democrats wanted another Democrat appointed. The (presumably Republican) appointed a Republican. Where is the ethical problem?
If a Republican were president, and a Supreme Court justice (a Democrat) resigned, would you say that the Republican president should appoint a Democrat to the seat?
In our county, and all in Illinois at least...the county board chairman traditionally replaces a board member who resigns or dies, etc. with who the party he belonged to recommends. In our case the county board chairman (a real scalawag) refused the person picked by the democrat party and chose a friend of his who voted democrat last election but was not other than that a democrat. It is very unethical, but it is legal. But, think for a minute...this is local politics...where the differences in beliefs are less contentious generally. What good for the people did our county board chairman do by alienating about half the people in our county? It was a reckless, stupid, arrogant act that I hope will end up with his resigning...
BTW, I had also written a letter to the editor honoring the democrat who resigned. I had served with him for two years on the county board and he is a very very good man. There were issues we didn’t agree on but that does not mean we should hate each other. At the local level there generally is less division than at state and national levels. Indeed, the fellow who resigned (by being harassed by board chairman) and I often discussed how it would be nice not to have political party affiliation for the local offices. That in itself caused more division than ideology differences at the local level.
