Using your source, the total democide in the 20th century is estimated at 169M, of which the commies were responsible for perhaps 110M.

In addition, while I have great respect for Rummel’s work, I think he overestimates things a little at times.
The total population of USSR in 1928 was 147M. With that total to work with, a democide of 61M, even when spread out over decades, seems a stretch.
Especially when population was 286M in 1989. I just don’t see that kind of population increase as possible in 60 years from a base of 147M if you kill 60M, most of them of childbearing years, along the way. Particularly since most of the Soviet nations were not known for particularly high birth rates. This is roughly the same population increase as the USA during the same period, which had high immigration during most of the period and no democide.
But then proper census of those areas is questionable.. at best.. it could have been more.. even now proper census is not accurate.. It is merely approximated..
Same with WWII counts..
