These challenges to Allied policy did not sit well with mainstream Jewish leaders such as Rabbi Stephen Wise, who was deeply loyal to President Roosevelt, the New Deal and the Democratic Party. In his private correspondence, Wise called the president "the All Highest" and "the Great Man."

As King Solomon said, there is nothing new under the Sun. Wise was anything but - he was like most Reform Jews then and now, a liberal first and a Jew second (if at all). He and his ilk indirectly killed at least hundreds of thousands of Jews. OTOH, Jews like Netanyahu's father did all that they could to save everyone possible, and deserve eternal gratitude for that.
