Democratic National Committee Chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz not only alienated the GOP when she accused the Republicans of wanting to bring back "Jim Crow" because they support voter-ID at the polls, she lined up against the feelings of three-quarters of the country.
A new national telephone survey conducted by Rasmussen Reports finds that 75 percent of likely U.S. voters believe voters should be required to show photo identification, such as a drivers license, before being allowed to vote. The problem for Democrats, who almost universally oppose the idea and are trying to use it to inflame the passions of Hispanic and African-American voters, is that, to most Americansas evidenced by the Rasmussen pollthe idea is just too reasonable to be ignored.
Look at the numbers: Rasmussen found 85 percent support for photo ID among Republicans, 77 percent support among non-affiliated voters, and even 63 percent support among Democrats. The poll also found, not surprisingly to anyone who understands the American electorate, support for such a law is high across virtually all demographic groups. only the MSNBC crowd and the Daily Kos/DU crowd opposed voter ID laws.
The Supreme Court upheld the Indiana voter ID law, so the concept of voter ID is valid and legal. I bet that’s why we’re seeing a number of states move to enact voter ID now. That, and also the fact that Republicans took control of many governorships and state legislatures last year.
Those who oppose voter ID can’t come up with a rational reason. Its that simple.
True, but even the 2/3rds of Rats that would approve of voter ID will still vote for an illegal alien Rat running for any office over any Republican.
The closest any Rat gets to voting correctly is when they get drunk and don't vote at all.
Not only should voters be required to show ID, but voters should be required to re-register for every election and registration should be closed 2-3 weeks prior to elections
The point of this is not only to limit fraud (allowing time for verification of voters by local electoral commissions) but to keep lazy, irresponsible people from voting as well. “Instant” voting laws of course encourage fraud, but also cheapen a great right, and turn elections into American Idol contests.
A few simple changes like this would also greatly improve the tone and quality elections and even improve how candidates campaign.
She is hoping to scare enough older Blacks into the polls for Obama in key blur cities and states, to then run to court in the hope friend judges will keep the polls up long enough to create votes in swing states. The only problem is that even the Democrats most loyal base in Blacks have soured on Obama and allot are planning to stay home this election. “Fool me once your fault, fool me twice mine!”
We passed a voter ID law in Michigan something like 11 years ago and the liberals kept it tied up in court for several years but we’ve gone through 2 elections since it finally came into effect.
There are four types of people who loudly protest laws that would ensure orderly and accurate elections:
a) cheaters (people who vote multiple times/locations)
b) illegal aliens
c) politicians who know they have no hope of winning a fair race
d) amoral people (also called ‘democrats’)
Agreed. It would be something if a solid blue state enacted a voter ID but doubt it’ll happen.
"Senator" Al Franken applauded the move.
Yep, Schultz is a real piece of work and I honestly believe she’s hurting the Dems right now.
There are only 10 types of people in the world; those who understand binary; and those who don’t.
If we have to show an ID for everything else, I don’t see what it hurts to make someone show an ID in order to vote. After all, the commie ‘RATS are ALWAYS telling us how “sacred” our vote is and why it is so important that everyone votes. I don’t see anything “sacred” about renting a movie from a video joint and you have to show some kind of ID to do that.
voter ID that shows citizenship
some states have Photo ID’s that don’t state citizenship
I think TX is one
LOL!
Old Drill Sergeant Ermey is funny but that’s right on the money.
Electronic voting took care of all of your concerns. A .4% or .5% swing in every county will swing an entire state in the desired direction.
IMO, one of the most useful things could do is to enact a law that requires a fingerprint on the outside of any absentee ballot, people should be fingerprinted when they register(no more motor voter laws either) and the fingerprints should be scanned at the polls and verified before the vote is counted. Absentee voters are probably one of the biggest sources of fraud
