I seen comments on other sites referring to people trying to model various SHTF scenarios as the CDC models epidemics, and it does make some sense.

Obviously the densely populated cities will flare up, blaze, then taper off as the city populations diminish. Proximity will dictate casualties, rather than preparedness.

Outside the cities, casualties will result more from people coming out of the cities to cause trouble. Chance will favor the prepared.
