Florida firestorm focuses on gun-data 'fishing' trips

A lawsuit has been filed by gun-ban advocates over Florida's new law that prevents physicians from grilling children in the name of "safety" about any firearms their parents may own, but Second Amendment experts say there's an underlying agenda that plainly aims to discourage gun ownership and compile a database on those who won't cooperate in getting rid of weapons.

The Orlando Sentinel reported that Florida Gov. Rick Scott signed a law that says doctors and other medical personnel cannot ask patients about gun ownership or guns in their homes and record the responses unless it is connected to the medical treatment.

FReeper marktwain makes a very valuable point.

This crap has been going on for over a decade -- I remember Kaiser Permanente hospitals being held to task for this sort of intelligence-gathering for the antigun crowd in 1999, so this is nothing new.

However, now that healthcare is being usurped by our more and more centralized FedGov, a deeper danger exists now that did not before. I joke with my doctors nowadays, asking them "How does it feel to be a government employee now?". None of them like it. But caution is still the order of the day.

Once again we see how the statist left operates, in infiltrating and subverting previously trustworthy institutions to promote and advance their tyrannical agenda, while hiding behind a mere memory of what these organizations used to represent (in education and media for example). Which they must, since they never accomplish anything without first sugar-coating it with a sufficient layer of lies.

That is a brilliant insight.

Just another disguise. Whether it’s safety, mental competence or whatever else comes down the pike, the push to remove guns from Citizen’s hands never ends.

Well, thanks, Travis. Having read all about Antonio Gramsci and this subversive theories, to me it's pretty apparent. You know the guy.

Well, I just got back from a visit to my new eye doctor. Aside from having just the cutest 24 year old intern (no vision problems there) the two of them asked for my card. The doc has a daughter who shoots and wants to join our local IDPA club and the internist (bless her) is open to taking my class for her ccw after a previous bad experience with somebody who tried to "teach" her and introduced her to something like a 45 for a novice. This steams me more than anything. Some idiot (boyfriend) knowingly gives a hand cannon to somebody who could be a wonderful example of law abiding citizen fully ready to defend herself and gives her a terrible experience just so he can beat his own chest and say soothingly There, there little lady .... You just let ME protect you... GRRRRRRRR

There’s an eye-doc here in Richmond who seems to specialize in shooting-related glasses. He’s my old eye Doc’s nephew and I think he was involved with one of the earlier single-lens red dot sights (C-more?).
