There are two people I don't second guess:

1. Rush Limbaugh

2. Sarah Palin.

But then that's just me.

Pawlenty performed well, and was impressive with his record as governor ( appointing conservative judges - sending National Guard to the border, etc. )

BUT, I just can’t get behind the guy because of his embrace of cap and trade. WHAT WAS HE THINKING? How can you trust anyone who ever entertained the idea? It just instinctively makes me distrust the guy despite his apology.

Bachmann, Santorum, Cain, and Paul were the most authentic candidates - in that they truly believe what they say.

Tie Mrs Bachmann’s hands to her side and she doesn't get a word out. Very distracting and takes away from the regurgitation of her shallow talking points.

Paul makes great points (some I agree with, some I don’t) and I’m glad he’s giving voice to true Constitutionalism, but he’s not LEADERSHIP material. Being leader of the free world requires far more than good talking points and being “smart.”

If Palin’s Rand Paul endorsement is any indication, she will make sure to incorporate the best of what papa Paul has to say into her own views, as they already are shared to begin with...She has libertarian-leanings in all the right places.

Yes I do! To discount Newt is a huge mistake. He can come up with great ideas and does it over and over. Energy for one,the border for another. He'd be a great adviser or think tank guy.

I believe Limbaugh made this very argument. He is in the race to attain a sinecure after the election. He wants his pick of think tanks, and $10,000 speeches. Giving good answers accomplishes this. One reason his staff bailed is that they want a "real player."

No one had to lay a glove on him, he beat himself up with his lame performance.

Check out the panel at the lower left.

Cheers!

I haven’t picked a dog in this fight yet and I am watching each candidate. Bachmann disappointed me. She hired a guy that had no faith in her, dissed her, and didnt think she had what it took to be Pres. HE SAID SO. That tells me she has bad judgement & instincts. period. THEN, she let him attack a faithful ally....she back stabbed.... I don’t care if it was Palin or GodFrigginZilla, u don’t back stab friends. Bad character and bad judgement. Then she announced tonight, which i thought was dumb...but that’s just my opinion. It tells me she doesn’t strategize very well....& has bad instincts....

and she dodged questions. even the guy asking her had to repeat the one question after she gave a long winded non answer. Then she was asked about abortion & rape/oncest and had an opportune chance to straighten the facts and expose the myths on that & she didn’t answer, instead she reminded the audience AGAIN about her 438 foster kids... we know she had foster kids, she tells us every time she speaks or does an inbterview....and kudos to her, I admire her for that but now it’s coming off as bragging & getting old.

I also understand she’s allowed missteps.... but come on, she’s in her 50’s, experienced, educated, and a united states congress person, high school alone teaches u not to back stab friends.... and not to trust those, especially men who have been condenscending to you (ESPECIALLY ON MSNBC, sheesh!)

I don’t choose a candidate and then find something wrong w/all the rest. I look at all the candidates and THEN I decide who the best is out of them..... Michele was up onthat leaderboard w/ me, but, I said, I need to watch her & decide..... I have & she fell short. Things can change, but I did have high hopes for her.

You just hit on the whole problem that is Newt:

Unpredictable.

You never know what the guy will do next. How did you like the debate Chuck?

Palin is our best option, overall, and would be the best president since George Washington.

Of the ones in the debate tonight, Bachmann and Cain would be the only ones not disqualified from my personal selections, and I would prefer Bachmann over Cain.

I will not contribute a dime to anyone other than Sarah Palin, when she officially announces her candidacy.

All of the candidates skewered and dissected Obama and his failed policies.

It was a beautiful thing!

(Except for maybe Paul).

Romney tonight. He's a used car salesman without any real interest in closing the deal.

Yep....he's even weaker than the last time he ran. More power to him to remain as so too! I hear the media is already giving him a pass though....figures. And unfortunately too many people are spoon fed. But it's still early and lots more debates ahead...time to get fired up and no doubt they will...though Romney probably has to have a fire put under him.

shallow talking points

That was my impression. She talked tough a few times, but overall, very safe answers.

Obama took some hits, but it was pretty standard stuff. And it will remain pretty standard stuff until one of these people takes the plunge and accuses THE LEFT of selling America down the river. We don’t have an Obama problem... well, we do, but that’s not the main problem. We have a Leftist/Elitist/Aristocracy problem. There is a whole CLASS of leftist aristocrats, at all levels of government, that have to be reigned in. And the media is their private attack dog. And somebody has got to stand up and SAY it.

I agree with what you are saying about the media and of course CNN is one of the prime offenders.

Again, I didn't see the debate, and I've only read comments on this thread. From reading the comments, it seems to me that there was very little criticism of Odumbo and the Lamestream media.

Anybody have any examples where the candidates went after Obama and the LSM???

To tell you the truth Frank if you can figure out what Newt is up to you are a far better man than I.

I just don't know.

Cain’s “I was a businessman,” is starting to sound like J effn Kerry, “I was in Vietnam.” Too much.

Ron Paul-swings both ways.

mitt-repetitive and condescending.

Pawlenty-too eager, like a puppy dog wagging his tail.

Bachmann-self adoration...like she was honoring US with her entrance into the race. That was her demeanor and it was offputting.

Santorum-has always walked the walk. I like him but too many people don’t. If anyone on that stage could be described as “polarizing,” it’s Santorum. And it is a shame, but it’s true...because HE was the strongest Conservative onstage.

Newt- knows he can say whatever he wants because he doesn’t have a prayer. So he could be honest for a change.

If giving ALL the right answers was the criteria, the winner was Santorum.
If it was any other reason, they either all win or no one won. It’s that simple.
