Sugar Ray Leonards depiction of himself in his upcoming autobiography is hardly flattering. He describes himself as a philandering husband, an absentee father and a substance abuser. Perhaps most shockingly, he revealed he was sexually abused by a prominent, but unnamed, boxing coach while preparing for the 1976 Olympics in Montreal.

Going through the biographies of famous contemporaries, one would be led to think that a sure way to wealth, success and prominence is to be abused as a child.
The fight against Hagler was one of superb boxing. Hagler could not handle his speed and couldn’t get close enough to him to exploit his power.

I saw him fight in Baltimore years ago. His flurries of solid blows were amazing, almost too quick to see. He was a fighting machine and a role model for many young black men.
