White House says Weiner behavior 'distraction'

WASHINGTON -- Rep. Anthony Weiner's behavior has been "inappropriate" and "a distraction," the White House said Monday as the House returned to work for the first time since eruption of the sexting scandal that has brought calls for the New York Democrat's resignation.

White House spokesman Jay Carney wouldn't say whether President Barack Obama believes Weiner should resign - as other Democratic leaders have said.

Weiner is on a temporary leave of absence, in treatment for an undisclosed disorder at an undisclosed location. He has acknowledged exchanging messages and photos that ranged from sexually suggestive to explicit, with several women online. The latest to surface appeared on the gossip website TMZ.

"The president feels, we feel in the White House, that this is a distraction, obviously," Carney said in response to questions from reporters traveling with the president on Air Force One to North Carolina. "As Congressman Weiner has said himself, his behavior was inappropriate, his dishonesty was inappropriate. But the president is focused on his job which is getting the economy continuing to grow, creating jobs, and obviously ensuring the safety and security of the American people."

The fact he is still hanging around tells me Weiner knows where some bodies are buried, has the dirt on key Democrats and is pushing back.

I don't believe that. He is pushing back because of reported 70k in CC debt and no hope of finding a real job. Weiner is just a rabble rouser and bomb thrower with no significant legislation attached to his name and nothing important in the way of committee assignments. Just a useful loudmouth thrown out on point and has since become an epic embarrassment.

I predict he will find his place under the bus soon as Breitbart would not let this story die.

Yes! John Stossel did a great report on the Gov of Puerto Rico’s revived economy (cut-cut-cut) on Fox News.

Distractions from golf. Maybe they should hold a wienie and beer summit to sooth everything over.

“The fact he is still hanging around tells me Weiner knows where some bodies are buried...”

Or he’s waiting for his parachute. No good reason for him to jump off the cliff before somebody hands him one. Either he gets one or he stays.

Saw that story last night, and appreciate that it demonstrated what many here likely believe:

1. Conservative policies unleash the economy and enable individuals to be successful. No re-distribution of wealth required, thank you.

2. We need a conservative leader more concerned with results than being popular or even re-elected. This leader would be from the private sector, and acting upon his/her allegiance (love) for our great country.

3. That Mr. Obama represents the opposite of the above, and the resulting outcomes have been damaging to our country.

In terms of which of the GOP candidates is the leader needed... Today, I think it’s easier to say who ISN’T the right person.

Not sure what the photos are pointing out. What is the problem?
