MIAMI, Fla. -- A low-dollar fundraiser here Monday felt like a throwback to the 2008 campaign.
There was the same old soundtrack – including “City of Blinding Lights” by U2, the president’s 2008 anthem -- the enthusiastic organizers and the abundant appeals for supporters to rally behind President Obama.
The one missing element? Overflowing crowds.
Granted, it was a fundraiser, not a free rally. But the empty seats were hard to miss.

Electorally BHO is toast! He is underwater in PA by 14 points from 2008, Ohio went overwhelming to Republicans in the last cycle. Florida’s economy is in the dumps & don’t underestimate Obama’s plans to dismantle NASA. I don’t know about Indiana, but with Evan Bayh’s departure, he sees the handwriting on the wall. What is left, Virginia, New Mexico & Colorado??? IMHO, the math is not there for our dear leader.
Perhaps he & Carter can do a book tour on blaming the “Jews” for the world’s problems.
The higher your nose is in the air, the longer and harder the fall. I can’t think of anyone I would rather see be wiped out in the election as much as BO and the Mooch. Free-loading bafoons, both of them.
It's been the practice that if only a dozen showed up, they'd take a tight shot to get all 12 heads in up close and make it look like a crowd.

Oh, right, it hasn't exactly been above the fold - indeed, I have seen not ONE story on the thousands that have already lost their jobs in the Space Program, especially in Houston and Cocoa Beach (Kennedy Space Center) - Let's just take KSC: there have been 6 - are you listening? - SIX layoffs since Oct. Everyone who didn't get the ax the first time sweated it to the next - or the next etc. They just had the 6th and it will be the last for this year. THOUSANDS in the Cocoa Beach, Titusville area have lost their jobs, their insurance and their retirement. (And thousands more are/will be out of work because of businesses that were dependent on the base.
In all, 7,000 will be out at the base - over 6,000 so far.
One of my sons, who has been there 23 years, - he and his family have gone through hell for the past year plus. They don't just lose their jobs, insurance and retirement, they lose their houses too - in the worst way, foreclosure - as the housing market there is worse than anywhere else and there is no way anyone can sell a house for what they owe on it.
The stress has been criminal. My son is 52, a Quality Control specialist in rocket booster fuels...with the whole space program decimated, where do these people go for jobs - especially since they can't sell and move.
Where is the press on this? Where are the republicans on this - over 100,000 jobs lost in the Space Industry now - not to mention future jobs no longer available - deliberately by bumbles decree.
Where is the new Congress! What bumbles did is illegal! NASA is LEGALLY under the wing of Congress. And they have not made one peep!
Think it's a little embarrassing for America's astronauts to now have to hitch rides with Russia and then come back to earth in those ancient and dangerous capsules? But not to worry, bumbles says we're not going to the moon ever again, nor Mars - but "maybe we can go to an asteroid." (How wonderful. Did anyone tell him Japan has already done that?)
By some miracle - and a lot of prayers, prayer circles, candles - and his brain and work ethic - out of 2,000 in his division and a dozen of so in his dept., he's the last man standing - and relatively safe for the rest of this year. He's been put in charge of an operation that can't be shut down. If he can hang on 3 more years, he can at least get his retirement. Thank you, GOD)

I pray I live long enough to see this POS who thinks himself King of the World get his comeuppance. It needs to happen soon. We may not be able to hold this country together until Jan 2013.
I offer my sympathy to your son for what is happening and has already happened at the Kennedy Space Center. I hate that Hussein has ruined the space program. Like you, I have wondered why there hasn’t been any outcry from anybody about this predicament. I hope the person we select to run against Hussein in 2012 will promise to bring back the space program.
