Obama: My family would be fine with just 1 term

WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama says his wife and daughters aren't "invested" in him being president and would have been fine had he decided against running for re-election. But he says they believe in what he's doing for the country. Asked about his family's reaction to his wanting another term, Obama said: "Michelle and the kids are wonderful in that if I said, `You know, guys, I want to do something different,' They'd be fine. They're not invested in daddy being president or my husband being president." He says first lady Michelle Obama would be the first one to encourage him to do something "a little less stressful" if she no longer thought that what they were doing was worthwhile for the country. Obama's interview aired Tuesday on NBC's "Today" show.

I hope we make your family happy.

Who cares what his family thinks? It kills me that those freeloading clowns are going to be on a taxpayer ride for the rest of their miserable, useless, pointless lives.

“A generous pension and Secret Service to coddle them for the rest of their time on earth, on taxpayer expense.”

If I’m not mistaken, Congress changed the law regarding SS protection for former presidents.

They now only get SS protection for ten years after leaving office.

I believe G.W. Bush is the first retired president to be so affected.

Aside:
I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a “loophole” in the law that permits exceptions for special cases. If so, Obama will certainly qualify!

This quote is just unbelievable. As long as “they” feel.... I guess he isn’t the only narcissist in the family.

Yea, I remember reading about that, and I suspect you're right about the loophole too.

You know - I wonder if he is making these kind of comments to give himself an out. As it appears now, it looks like unemployment is going to stay high, there is no end in sight for the housing slump, either inflation or high interest rates (or both!) are possible if not likely in the near future, his approval ratings are low and likely to get lower, energy prices are high and likely to move higher, and people are finding out what was in Obamacare and don't like it. What if he looks at all of this next fall, and finds that his fundraising is far behind what he expected, and suddenly decided not to run, "for his family's sake"?

He wouldn't be the first president to decide not to run for re-election in the face of overwhelming odds. LBJ did that when he saw that the Vietnam War was going to cost him the election no matter what he did. Of course, Obama is a narcissist, and may not be able to walk away, but statements like this could give him an opening if he did make that decision.

So... the daughters are conscious enough now to know that he’s a Communist destroying the country and that’s why he wants to stay?

Congress changed the law regarding SS protection for former presidents. They now only get SS protection for ten years after leaving office.

Much as I despise O'bama, I think that SS rule change is misguided. Former US presidents won't stop being targets for crackpot weirdos and psychopaths because Congress doesn't want to extend their protection for life.

I have a feeling that Congress is going to reverse itself on this before GWB's SS protection runs out.

It sounds like this communist assclown is happy with the immeasurable damage he has done to once-proud America in just four years.

I don’t believe BO would utter the unthinkable unless he is pretty sure a smackdown is coming his way. BTW, my family is fine with 1 term also.

If the democrat party realizes the stone hung around their own necks called 0bama, will they force him aside?

It seems to me that if the poll numbers show Obama continuing to tank next year, I suspect that a delegation of the top Rats in Congress will be formed to go visit the White Hut and lay the word on him...Go!
