OTTAWA — Canada’s involvement in Libya could continue well into the future, Defence Minister Peter MacKay hinted Tuesday during a Parliamentary debate aimed at extending this country’s contribution to the NATO mission there by 3 1/2 months.
“Canada needs to continue its commitment to Libya until the terms of UN Security Council Resolution 1973 are met and until NATO’s goals, as agreed upon by our allies and partners, are achieved,” he said.
“We must ensure that all attacks and threats of attack against civilians have ended.”
The comments came as the government also said it would officially recognize rebels fighting the regime of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi as the country’s legitimate representatives.
It marked the first time Canada had recognized the group opposed to the Gadhafi regime as anything more than a “valid interlocutor.”
“We welcome the efforts of the National Transitional Council in defining core driving principles . . . based on inclusiveness and balanced representation,” Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird said.
“We will maintain an ongoing dialogue with the NTC to identify Libya’s most pressing needs now and into the future. We will do all we can to link the NTC with Canadian expertise on governance and civil society issues.”

My take - Canada committed aggression against UN member state by abusing UNSEC 1973 and now hopes to get off the hook by recognizing AQ rebels as Government.
Question for idiots in charge: what Canada will do when Daffy defeats AQ rebels? Resettle AQ scum in Canada as allies?
