Yes, and leaving the legality of “bribery” aside, if it advanced American interests, that’s fine with me. But we don’t seem to know what happened to any of it.

I suspect that people, particularly in the CIA and DOD intelligence, know parts of the answer, and that some of the answers might not pass “fiscal” scrutiny but might have met “security” interests at the time. Juts a guess.
