As prosecution in Casey Anthony trial rests, defence is denied request for acquittal

After 19 days of damning evidence in which the prosecution painted Casey Anthony as a calculated murderer, it is now the turn of the defence - who immediately had their request to get the case thrown out of court refused.

And as they offered up a list of amended witnesses they will call - including one surprise witness that will likely back up their theory that George Anthony persuaded his daughter to dispose of Caylee Anthony's body - the question remains as to whether Casey herself will be called as a witness.

Prosecutors have spent the last three weeks proving that Anthony is a liar who spent the weeks before and after the death of her daughter partying with friends and different men.

No law against asking

Could be considered bad practice not to ask, and even a procedural requirement for further motions.

Its normal for the defense to ask for an acquittal. Its just a matter of record for appeal. Yes, everyone who is convicted gets at least one appeal.

what really bugs me about this case is that EVERY pundit on tv...whether Nancy Grace or Greta or any of the others...are fully against Casey A......

OJ was much more of a clean cut case and yet there were lawyers on Nancy Grace who would support Simpson...

but not this case...

nobody is supporting her...

I want the guilty punished but this case seems almost too pat....

There are things about this case that are very strange. First of all, what mother doesn’t know her child has been missing for 31 days? Apparently, the nanny was made up. Why didn’t the grandparents question her more about the whereabouts of Caylee? Its possible her parents believed her story about little Caylee being with a nanny. Casey didn’t have a job, how could she afford a nanny?

There are just so many unanswered questions in this case. Given the fact that Casey is an accomplished liar, maybe we’ll never know the truth. But, deep down, I believe she killed her daughter. Maybe it was an accident which she failed to report, but, why the duct tape around the little girl’s mouth? Everything is just so odd and I’d like to have some answers. Her attorney is trying to blame everyone else.

Last week Matt Lauer was on the “the evidence is only circumstancial” bandwagon.
