It has become obvious to me that newt’s latest wife wears the pants and make all of the decisions and plans the spending all of their money.

Dumbass. Did he think somehow the media wouldn't lie about him too?

Feeding the bear in the hopes he'll eat you last.

Just the opposite. I was watching the show and frankly, I thought he did a really good job of taking the whole media to task.

It was pathetic watching the host trying to cover for the media and knock Newt off his message.

That being said, Newt is not my choice, but I had to respect his fortitude.

"Geez...someone hand Newt a tissue...sniff, sniff..."

You can babble your cutsie comments, but I respect a man who will stand up for his wife, especially against the MSM.

You might want to grow a spine and step out from behind you keyboard and monitor is decide to do something tangible to defend what you believe in.

If, that is, you believe in anything beyond your own pathetic ego.

Agreed...there are two Republicans the Dem/MSM conglomerate are most afraid of: Palin and Gingrich. Watch how the major networks and newspapers take daily shots at them.

Neither are part of the Washington establishent. Though a former Speaker, Newt never fit in with the Washington crowd; it’s why his candidacy is being assassinated by the press. Same with Palin.

Did you hear/see the questions Mr. Gregory at NBC/DNC asked him on MEET THE PRESS? They were mostly of “have you stopped beating your wife yet?” type questions.

They continue to pound away...but they love Huntsman...also Pawlenty...and seem to tolerate Romney, and will until he gets the nomination...then, like McCain they will turn on him.

How about we don’t allow the media to name next year’s nominee.

Gotta agree with you here. The media will try to destroy every candidate. We better start defending them. I thought Newt did a really good job when he was up against Greta. I don’t know what is happening on this board-there are a lot of cheap shots being thrown against candidates.
I may not agree with some of these candidates, but I won’t enter into these p........ contests I see happening here.
The objective is to defeat Obama, not destroy our own.

well, good luck with THAT.

It does indicate that he must have some polling that running AGAINST the media will be a winning strategy. Very good news for Sarah.

You can all scream...I happen to like Newt.

I won't scream it but he sealed it when he sat on the global warming couch with Pelosi. Some things just aren't forgivable in politics.

Allow me to say something nice about Newt..... He's not as bad as Romney.

...I respect a man who will stand up for his wife...

Please clarify...which wife were you referring too? The man you're swooning for is a serial divorcer. He knows NOTHING about one of the most important institutions in this country.

Per Wikipedia..."Gingrich has been married three times.

In 1962, he married Jackie Battley...Gingrich left Battley after having an affair with Marianne Ginther.

Six months after the divorce from Battley was final, Gingrich wed Marianne Ginther in 1981.

In the mid-1990s, Gingrich began an affair with House of Representatives staffer Callista Bisek, who is 23 years his junior.

In 2000, Gingrich married Bisek shortly after his divorce from second wife Ginther."

If that's your kind of hero, so be it. But then, maybe you want to be Newt's 4th. At the very least, Newt will probably loan you his hankie when he's finished with it.

As for taking a"...step out from behind you keyboard and monitor...", you seem to have a pretty good handle on the cowardly spreading of hate and anger using YOUR keyboard.

The man you're swooning for is a serial divorcer. He knows NOTHING about one of the most important institutions in this country.

Would you say the same thing about Betsy Ross or Rush Limbaugh?

You do know that it takes two to tango in any relationship, let alone marriage, and that some of them don't work out, for various reasons? You do also know that marrying another without first getting a divorce finalized is against the law (bigamy) in most states, and that the marriage is usually long dead before the final divorce papers are signed?

Before relying on Wikipedia to find an unbiased political biography (i.e., it may have chronologically accurate but possibly not entirely true account) please see:
Jackie Gingrich Cushman : Setting the Record Straight (about my dad's first marriage) - FR, 2011 May 15

I see an interesting dissonance on this and similar threads about Gingrich and his wife - the people who are accusing Gingrich of [allegedly] somehow "mistreating" his former wives (by divorcing them after their marriage fell apart and remarrying) also fault him for defending his wife against cowardly lying rumor campaign by the al-media?

BTW, getting a "high-limit line of credit" at Tiffany or at any other issuer ("affinity credit card") or department store (to consolidate debt or for purchases at just about any place that would accept the card or the cheque) is completely different from actually buying $500K worth of jewelry... not that there's anything wrong with that either, if one can afford it. Reminds me of attacks on Sarah Palin's wardrobe bought during McCain's campaign.

You don't have to swoon over a candidate, politician, businessman, everyman or his/her family to defend them against charges which are blatantly unfair and politically motivated...

...and, then there's Newt's conversion to Catholicism from Southern Baptist.

Two divorces, 3 wives, swapping religions...sounding a little Henry VIII'ish isn't he?

Can this guy even spell loyalty?

I suspect the mainstream media is will now systematically attempt to destroy every potential Republican nominee...

Exactly....all except their choice to run against the usurper

Personally, I would like to see Newt wind up as VP with a more outside the beltway POTUS nominee.

He could easily fill a Cheney like role or be an excellent chief of staff

...and, then there's Newt's conversion to Catholicism from Southern Baptist.

David Mamet, who has recently laudably "converted" from an unenlightened liberal to enlightened conservative. He is married to a talented actress/singer/lyricist/author Rebecca Pidgeon who is 18 years his junior, was raised as a Christian but converted to Judaism after the marriage because David is of Jewish faith, for the sake of family harmony (they have two children).

Callista Gingrich has been a Catholic her entire life, and converting from Baptist to Catholic - his wife's faith - seems a lot less of a leap.

...sounding a little Henry VIII'ish isn't he?

Henry VIII had 6 wives, and when annulment was not granted by Rome, his second wife lost her head and a new branch of Christian religion - Anglican Church - that was not controlled by Rome, was propped up by Henry...

In case of Gingrich, I am sure that feelings were hurt but nobody was beheaded, as far as I know... Newt Gingrich settled for a divorce and has accepted conversion to his wife's Catholic faith. I'd say comparisons to Henry VIII are quite a stretch.

Can this guy even spell loyalty?

Well, he is loyally defending his wife, and he never badmouthed his previous wives (that's "loyalty"), even as one of them refused to follow him to Washington, and when he was busy there leading the Second Republican Revolution (after their separation) threatened to derail his political career if he ran for President (as she put it, "will take one interview with a reporter" - you can see that interview with Esquire magazine at a link in my previous post and decide for yourself if she flattered herself in that regard).

On the other hand, the outside consultants who were hired by Gingrich's campaign resigned en masse for greener pastures of other campaigns... Whose loyalty should be questioned?

Spin it all you want...

Newt’s 1st two marriages failed. He’s on his third.

Newt abandoned his 1st religion. He’s on his second.

Newt announces is candidacy, and then basically walks away from his campaign to sail the Med.

(I could possibly get over the divorces but screwing other women WHILE you’re married is just wrong.)

For me, Newt is Naught.
