Bernie Marcus on the President: "He just doesn't understand it. He never worked a day in his life.

The Home Depot legend wasn't mincing words in my interview with him yesterday. and he wants the president and his team to get a clue. The complete transcript is here.

HH: Let me ask you, Bernie Marcus, people will be very interested in this, do you think we can turn this around? Can this economy go back to the era of growth that Home Depot experienced in the 80s and 90s? Is that possible again?

BM: Listen, the American people are very resilient, unlike other people in the world. We just have to get out of their way. We just have to allow them to grow. And if we don’t do that, and we can’t keep putting in impediments. Look, I know so many small business people today. Nobody wants to expand. They’re not willing to expand today. There’s such uncertainty out there. You have a group of people in Washington today, where they’re the bad guys. I mean, if a man has a successful small business, and he’s making $200,000 dollars a year, he’s the enemy of the world.

HH: Yeah. Do you think the President understands this at all, Bernie Marcus?

BM: I…look, look. I’m sure this guy is, I’m sure his head is in the right place. He just doesn’t understand it. He never worked for a day in his life. How would he know it?

HH: Yeah.

BM: He never had to make a payroll, and he has surrounded himself…there’s a statistic that’s very important. They had a statistic on how many businesspeople worked in every administration. The typical one, the smallest one was something like 35% were in the business world. This administration, it’s 8%. He’s surrounded by college professors, he’s surrounded by economic professionals, but nobody has ever created a job in this administration.

He was also carefully trained as a marxist activist from birth.

Unfortunately, IIRC, those statistics are made up and not true. Somebody around here can probably provide a link.

I think that 8% is way overstating it.

They must have left out the 30 or so czars, who are all has-been leftist losers from non-productive socialist think tanks, or union leaning thugs from protected union industries.

Scanned that source quickly. They list Hillary and Timmy Geitner as having vast private sector experience.

Ok, Hillary traded some cattle futures - that counts I guess. But Timmy was a consultant for a beltway bandit company named Kissinger. No sell.

It's not that he "doesn't get it". It's that the Obammunist hates America, hates our freedom, hates our economic system, hates free markets, hates capitalism, etc. It's not that he "doesn't get it", it's that he wants to destroy what America has always been.

We have met the enemy, and "we" elected him president.

Obama’s only business experience can be summed up in an account from one of his books of which he is quite proud. During his teenage years, he briefly held a job in an ice cream shop. He boasted about how he would impress his friends by giving out free ice cream when his boss wasn’t around. And this sums up his entire business viewpoint. The primary role of business is to provide loot for others to steal, and those doing the stealing can derive political power from controlling that loot.

You nailed it succinctly.

And after Sarah Palin wins the election she can announce to the country and the world that she’s going to get government off the backs of hard-working Americans and stop overregulating us to death. Companies will begin hiring soon afterward.

On his show today Hugh Hewitt called 0bama an “economic illiterate”, with a followup to say “that's what yo get when you elect a community organizer”.

Obama’s Liberal Zealots and the Unions don't care what they do to this country in the long run just so long as they get the short term benefits FROM the rest of us today.

He is truly killing the goose that lays the golden egg, and doing it all in the name of social justice.

Heh... I listened to some of Medved’s show today and he did an extensive interview with Bernie Marcus.
Bernie was excellent.

I won’t be listening to Medved anymore though, as he is getting more and more shameless in his support for the liberal, flip-flopping, Mittens.
It makes me throw up in my mouth a little.

You've got that right. Obama spent decades attending the Church of "G** D*** America!". He hates everything good about America and every move he makes is designed to weaken us.
