When I was in the USAF, we were always told our individual actions reflected on the USAF, that we were ambassadors of a sort in civilian society. Guess what? Our USAF leadership was right.

This TSA agent reflects poorly on the TSA. Attempts to disassociate the TSA from this agent don’t impress me nearly as much as attempts to ensure this sort of thievery doesn’t happen again.

I was USMC ('66-'69) and was told the same thing. We even had regulations for what and how we could wear our civvies off base.
It's always in the back of my mind to this day.
