Keith Olbermann hints at Anthony Weiner talk show on Al Gore's network

That was fast.
Within hours after Anthony Weiner announced his resignation from Congress, former MSNBC gabber Keith Olbermann suggested he may hire the soon-to-be-former New York lawmaker for a talk show on former Vice President Al Gore's fledgling television network, Current TV.
Olbermann, appearing on comedian Jimmy Fallon's late night television program Thursday night, was asked how long he thinks it would be before rival network CNN created a show for Weiner.
"Well, you know, I've got a nine o'clock show that I am probably going to hire somebody for," Olbermann told Fallon, referring to the space immediately after his upcoming new show, Countdown with Keith Olbermann on Current TV.
Fallon asked Olbermann if would hire Weiner.
"Eliot Spitzer is doing okay on CNN at eight o'clock," Olbermann replied with a smile.
Olbermann is likely just drawing attention for his own show, the first episode of which airs at eight o'clock on Monday, June 20.
Don't expect a show right away. Weiner announced his resignation on Thursday, but did not actually resign.
The earliest his resignation could become official is Tuesday, when the House of Representatives returns for business. And each day he delays, his pension grows.

Sounds like the Gore network will be the Oakland Raiders of cable television.
Talk to the Weiner?
Weiner can host one of the Current current shows:
“What Did I Do Last Night?”
I kid you not—that is the title.
Simply “The Weiner Show” seems oddly apt for some reason.
May come as news to whoever IS in charge of programming.
Not that they are doing a very good job anyway. I mean look who they hire for Pete's sake.

Rather’s show has been airing on Mark Cuban’s HD TV network for the past three or four years. Never seen the show, and that holds true for about 99% of the adult population. Not really sure why Cuban rescued Rather from the ash heap of journalism, but it’s pretty obvious the show isn’t making any money, and Rather is pulling in at least a million a year.
Then again, how much money did Cuban spend on the Dallas Mavericks before they won an NBA championship? Cuban is quite willing to pour lots of money into a venture, even if it doesn’t pay off right away. I’d put the Rather program into the “never will pay off category,” but apparently Mr. Cuban doesn’t care. I guess he doesn’t mind feeding “The Dan’” and his colossal ego, which believes that American democracy can’t survive without his brand of “investigative journalism.”
Here’s a fact: just before Olbermann signed on, Al Gore and his partner, Joel Hyatt, were desperately trying to unload “Current TV,” but there were no buyers. Gore even approached his zillionaire buddies at Google, but there were no takers—and for obvious reasons.
First, the network has been bleeding money since its inception. Additionally, Current is under pressure to actually start subscribing to a ratings service and publish their audience numbers, but Gore has resisted, because his “network” rarely attracts a measurable audience. The Olbermann hiring represents a last-ditch attempt to attract some eyeballs, and bring in more advertising.
When his hiring was announced, Current stated that Olbermann would be an equity partner in the enterprise. Translation: Current doesn’t have enough to pay him what he earned at MSNBC, so much of his “salary” will be based on the split of advertising revenue and various ratings incentive clauses in his contract. If Olbermann thinks he’s going to get rich as a partner at Current, he is sadly mistaken.
Many thanks for the info...it was funny, reading this thread, I just sort of remembered that Rather was “doing something” on the internet..but I haven’t seen or heard anything ever mentioned about it..you’d think that in 3+ years, he’d have said/done at least ONE thing on air that would have popped...
The guests can tell how they took a break from licking Clinton’s butt to be on the show.
