Texas will become a light bulb exporter to flea markets all over the country. Very interesting. So every time I drive through Texas I can pick up some cases of light bulbs to sell to the Kalifornians back home still living in the Progressive Dark Ages. Got to be careful though. Last time I drove back into Kali I had to open my cooler for fruit and plant inspection. Just kidding of course, except for that last part about the cooler.

Awesome!
I hate those government light bulbs. Some of the ones in my kitchen take three minutes to warm up and get bright enough to be useful.

I expect the Commerce Clause to be used against Texas very soon after Perry signs this. (if he even does) At which point thousands of patriotic Texans will attack the courthouse with thousands of easily breakable made in China CFL bulbs.
The libs have had their "sit ins".
I think it is time that Americans held a "BREAK IN".
Break a CFL for Freedom!

Actually, I expect the Commerce Clause to be used against Texas very soon after Perry signs this. Actually, the Feds do not need to wait to apply the Commerce Clause. Wickhard v Filburn, from the 1930's, decided that, since wheat grown on a farm and used only on that farm could affect national wheat prices when aggregated over all farms nation-wide, that the feds could regulate that wheat, too. One of the many, many horrid decisions by SCOTUS.

GE closed its last U.S. incandescent bulb factory in 2010, that was the last plant from a major manufacturer. Sylvania converted to other types. It's unclear how many small manufacturers of that bulb type left in the U.S. but there's one in South Carolina, American Light Bulb Manufacturing Co. which produces 9K per day where it once made 300K.
SC seems to have taken the same step at TX

Sylvania still has two plants that manufacture incandescent bulbs; St. Mary’s, Pennsylvania and Winchester, Kentucky.

Didn't the sorry s.o.b. Upton say he would repeal the ban
on incandescent bulbs once he was appointed to the House energy committee?
Ain't heard squat about it since Bonehead put him in there.

Sorry, I neglected to point out that he was a co-sponsor of the original ban!

I'd look for back roads and trails to get past those points. Support free trade, smuggle. B-)

Good for Texas!
Walmart has 100 watt bulbs—in the blue box-4 pack for 94 cents—made in USA. They are the first to be banned on 1/1/12—six months from now, unless sanity reigns in DC.
