State lawmakers have passed a bill that allows Texans to skirt federal efforts to promote more efficient light bulbs, which ultimately pushes the swirled, compact fluorescent bulbs over the 100-watt incandescent bulbs many grew up with. The measure, sent to Gov. Rick Perry for consideration, lets any incandescent light bulb manufactured in Texas - and sold in that state - avoid the authority of the federal government or the repeal of the 2007 energy independence act that starts phasing out some incandescent light bulbs next year. Thank goodness for Texas!!
Love it!
God Bless Texas!
heeheehee!!! I see a day when I may move to Texas!
IF, and it’s a big IF, we had more states like TEXAS, we could stop all this crap coming out of Washington. Relocating soon to the state of TX.
Nice work!
Force Obama/Holder justice dept to sue on this to get it in the news.

And keep you fool edicts out of our State! You don’t get to dictate to us.
WHAT!!!! You mean there’s nothing in our Constitution that mentions lightbulbs??? Really? Howz’ about children cars seats, 5-gallons per flush, abortion, penumbras, privacy, tobacco, seatbelts? Huh? Nothing? Then where did these restrictions come from? Huh?

I want the NC franchise for Texas bulbs. Might be my next business.
...at which point the Commerce Clause will take effect. Actually, I expect the Commerce Clause to be used against Texas very soon after Perry signs this. (if he even does)
Sign it, Rick.
In a way, this whole light bulb battle is reflective of the true debate going on in the USA. The federal government has overreached in matters of daily living like toilets, light bulbs, dishwasher detergents, cars...and more.
The GOP candidate should bring the light bulb issue up in one of the debates. It will catch Obozo off guard, and he will give such a convoluted answer trying to justify it yet distance himself from it that it will cause seizures in the audience.
The libs believe that its fine to kill preborn children, but not okay to choose your own light bulbs.
My that is ridiculous~
I posted yesterday that I see opportunity here. I was thinking about a nice little online lightbulb business from my home here in central Texas. To hell with those corkscrew imitation bulbs!
How many light bulb manufacturers are there in Texas?
Maybe soon there will be a bunch more?
“...which ultimately pushes the swirled, compact fluorescent bulbs over the 100-watt incandescent bulbs many grew up with...”
Does anyone here know anyone who *didn’t* grow up with incandescent light bulbs?
Maybe some Amish kid?
