When I bought mine (in Glock 17 cofig), I purposely took it to the range and shot it right out of the box without cleaning or anything. It performed flawlessly for three mags and all shots in the black from 20 yards. I added a folding foregrip to it and it was my motorhome weapon for years, stored in folded config with three 33 rnd mags close by.
I bought one of the 995ST rifles a few years ago and have never shot it. I bought it to take it apart and learn the intricacies of it. Very simple blowback mechanism so it is probably very reliable. There is now a .45 acp version available. I’ve never owned a 40 cal since I would rather up from 9mm to 45acp and not settle for middle ground.
My 4095 has some good kick to it, and is quite accurate.
Sad story:
I took it down to clean and part of the trigger spring mechanism shot straight up into outer space and was never seen again.
Had to take it to the shop and have them repair it.
Still, it’s a fun weapon to shoot. Wish they had more than those 10-round mags, though.
Sounds familiar ... wife makes you clean your weapons outside no doubt, and the spring is somewhere in the grass to never be seen again.
Oh, no Wife.
I was indoors, by my gun safe where I keep all of my weapons-related gear.
There’s a stable wormhole in my house that it fell into -along with my stray socks and occasional socket head.
It also has this strange habit of moving cat poop from the litterbox to the living room.
At least that’s what the cat tells me...
Oh nooooes, that wormhole is not stable! It gobbles up things around here, too. It seems to have a liking for reading glasses, fingernail clippers, varying types of pliers, and ... wait for it ... the last cold soda in the fridge!
Regarding the Bushmaster ... have you looked carefully at the Bulgarian AK74? Very good weapon, very reliable, and ammo is about the same rpice but the weapon with all the trimmings can be had for under $700!
I'm glad you mentioned the motorhome; my dad has occasionally mentioned needing something for their camper (full-time RV'ers, 5th wheel), and the Sub2000 is an interesting possibility!
Mom & Dad generally feel pretty safe, but they had their first burglary while they were were in a Nashville campground over Memorial weekend; that has left them a little spooked.
