I bought one of the 995ST rifles a few years ago and have never shot it. I bought it to take it apart and learn the intricacies of it. Very simple blowback mechanism so it is probably very reliable. There is now a .45 acp version available. I’ve never owned a 40 cal since I would rather up from 9mm to 45acp and not settle for middle ground.
Regarding the Bushmaster ... have you looked carefully at the Bulgarian AK74? Very good weapon, very reliable, and ammo is about the same rpice but the weapon with all the trimmings can be had for under $700!
