Looks to be a warm week-end but not as warm as today and tomorrow where temps are well into the 90s at the track.
Look for some action to heat up and new rivalries to blossom as pressure mounts for drivers to make the Chase.

It’s HoT HoT Hot!!
95.9 as I post
It has been cold heere in the Colorado Rockies. Got down to 36F the other night and lots of snow just above my elevation.
Smoke’s chance to get back in the chase? He’s a good road course driver and he dang sure needs a good week at Infineon.
The Keselowski Brothers .. Brian and Brad
He’s one of my picks, so far.

Oil pan repercussions over at Joe Gibbs garage..
JGR crew chiefs fined for MIS rule violations

Nice intro Norm.
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — NASCAR announced Tuesday that the No. 11, No. 18 and No. 20 teams that compete in the Sprint Cup Series have been penalized for rule violations discovered during opening day inspection June 17 at Michigan International Speedway.
All three of the Joe Gibbs Racing cars were found to be in violation of Sections 12-1 (actions detrimental to stock car racing); 12-4-J (any determination by NASCAR officials that the race equipment used in an event does not conform to NASCAR rules detailed in Section 20 of the NASCAR rule book, or has not been approved by NASCAR prior to the event); and 20-5.5.4A (oil pan, failure to submit component) of the 2011 Sprint Cup Series Rule Book.
As a result, the three crew chiefs — Mike Ford (No. 11 car), Dave Rogers (No. 18 car) and Greg Zipadelli (No. 20 car) have been fined $50,000 each and placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31. In addition, all three car chiefs — Chris Gillin (No. 11 car), Wesley Sherrill (No. 18 car) and Jason Shapiro (No. 20 car) along with senior vice president of racing operations Jimmy Makar have been placed on NASCAR probation until Dec. 31.
“We received NASCAR’s ruling today with regard to penalties for having oil pans on our cars that had not been submitted for approval prior to going through inspection on Friday,” a team release said. “ Although the parts were not illegal, we did not follow the proper submission for approval process. We will not appeal NASCAR’s ruling.”

Oops.
Two big stories in the news today. Red Bull is leaving Sprint Cup next year and FOX will probably kick as many as 6 cup races to Speed channel when this contract with NASCAR expires.
I see Colorado remains firmly entrenched as a ‘shovel ready’ state.
It’s due to Global varming, yaknow.
Thanks!
Yup,
looks like
No Bull
No More
I had to post this puppy before I jumped in the pool.
It’s over 100 here and the house is cooking, poor dogs are lumps on the floor and couch.

CUP: It Could Be A Very Hot Summer
Unique tracks, Chase spots heat up competition
http://nascar.speedtv.com/article/cup-it-could-be-a-very-hot-nascar-summer/
Its summer. Officially, that is. The summer solstice rolled in on time Tuesday.
If you live in certain parts of the country, its been summer for weeks, scorching temperatures being the best evidence.
For Sprint Cup teams and drivers, this means its time for one of the most unusual and, this year, most stressful parts of the season.
The upcoming five-race stretch puts teams in virtually every region of the country and on a series of wildly different race tracks (including one entirely new one) all in a span of six weeks. And this year the run through the summer will be more complicated by the fact that starting grids will include drivers with an intriguing mix of goals.
It all begins Sunday with the Toyota/Save Mart 350 at Infineon Raceway, the 1.99-mile road course in California wine country. The race will be the series first road-course event of the season and always puts up challenges for those drivers who find road-course racing at best a nuisance and at worst very frustrating.
Then follows Daytona International Speedway (July 2), where hot early-summer weather likely will add to the challenges of the tandem drafting that dominated the February Daytona 500.
Next up is a unique test Kentucky Speedway. The Sprint Cup series will race there for the first time July 9, with only those drivers and teams who have competed there in other series having a full understanding of the tracks intricacies.
Then come the one-mile flat-track challenge of New Hampshire Motor Speedway (July 17) and the heavy exposure and tough environment of the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis (July 31).
Making the mix of these races even more interesting this season is the generally wide-open run for Chase for the Sprint Cup spots.
Cool.. I guess.
Not good re: Red Bull but things were bumpy for them,, with Vickers and Allmendinger the last few years. just the breaks of the game.
More Speed racing, OK.. makes sense. That way FoX can peddle more House. :-)
Going to SPEED will be bad for me because it’s in the premium package for Dish and I won’t fork over the bucks to upgrade. Guess I’ll read about the race the next day. It’s not supposed to happen for a few years yet anyway unless FOX can convince NASCAR to allow them to change their contract.
NASCAR - Non Athletic Sport Centered Around Rednecks (like me)
Gonna be a good 'un.
Thanks Norm!
Not a NASCAR guy (although I am still working on it!) but I was wondering what you all think of the road course races. I do not find them anywheres near as exciting or fun to watch as the ovals. So I was wondering, is it just me, or do you all find them as exciting as the ovals?
