Jon Huntsman: McCain on Wheels
Town Hall ^ | 6/22/2011 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 06/22/2011 6:12:15 AM PDT by IbJensen

Jon Huntsman wants you to know he rides a dirt bike. On real dirt! He's Salt of the Earth. Grease of the Garage. Dragster on the Dunes. Huntsman's runnin' and gunnin' for president. But underneath the Steve McQueen costumery, this made-for-cable-TV Moderate Speed Racer is a creaky old John McCain on Wheels.

The former Utah Republican governor and Obama ambassador to China is the answer to an election-year problem that doesn't exist. The quadrennial "problem," in the minds of Beltway GOP strategists and liberal media chin-pullers, is that the Republican Party isn't moderate, civil, self-critical or inclusive enough.

Huntsman is the latest no-labels flavor of the month, a straw man of the same people who have spent the past year smearing entitlement reformers as senior citizen-killers, budget hawks as Hitler's spawn, border-security activists as racists, and leading GOP women as sluts, nuts and bimbos.

Just like the failed 2008 GOP contender whose consultants are now fueling the Huntsman bid, McCain 2.0 is a big-spending accommodationist more in tune with the Democratic elite than with the conservative rank-and-file. In the shadow of the Statue of Liberty on Tuesday, Huntsman assailed the current economic crisis overseen by the Obama administration as "totally unacceptable" and "totally un-American." Yet, Huntsman retains nothing but "respect" for his former boss in the White House and laments the loss of "civility" wrought by "corrosive" political debates.

This is all you need to know about the manufacturing of the Huntsman candidacy: Swooning reporters far outnumbered supporters at the kickoff in Liberty Park and at a follow-up rally in New Hampshire. CNN's enamored anchor Wolf Blitzer gushed: "Here's what I especially liked about Jon Huntsman's presidential announcement in front of the Statue of Liberty. He called for some civility in the race for the White House. Unlike several of the other Republican candidates, he did not open with a blistering assault on President Obama."

Yeah. Who do all those uncivil Republicans running against Obama think they are -- opposing the opposition with oppositional rhetoric? Heaven forfend.

So did I, BUT

If you watched closely, you could see a “phony”.

He is VERY good on TV. He has perfect hair. Just the right amount of gray. Coiffed but not over coiffed. He's handsome, yet slightly rugged looking. He is soft spoken, yet has a bit of a commanding presence. He is the perfect caricature of a president. A Stepford president if you will. No wonder that the Hollywood loving liberals love this guy. Start chiseling his face into Mount Rushmore right now!

He reminds me of John Edwards. Things are not always as they seem.

Wrapping himself in the Reagan heritage, I found disgusting. I knew Ronald Reagan, Reagan is a hero of mine, and Huntsman is no Ronald Reagan.

Wishy Washy is fine for a Chinese laundry, NOT for a president. This guy's nomination is DOA.

CONSERVATIVES RULE! Accept no “moderates”. We have the power, NOW WIELD IT, DARN IT!

There is something about Huntsman that scares me, and I can’t put my finger on it. I think that there is something very evil hiding behind his Mormon facade.

The only reason the media is propping up Huntsman is because they want another RINO waiting in the wings in case Romney flames out. They know the only way the messiah can win in 2012 is if the Republicans nominate some spineless RINO that will suppress the conservative / tea party vote.

"Huntsman retains nothing but "respect" for his former boss in the White House and laments the loss of "civility" wrought by "corrosive" political debates."

Huntsman's staging of his announcement at the Statue of Liberty - trying to evoke Reagan's classic speech beginning his campaign against Jimmie Carter - and then calling for "civility" and "respect" for Obama, only exposed him as a phony and pretender.

Here's two videos of REAGAN'S 1980 speech there - for anyone to make the comparison:(This is where Rush found the Reagan sound bites he featured on his show yesterday. There are 2 parts.):

President Ronald Reagan - Liberty State Park 1980[Pt. 1]

President Ronald Reagan - Liberty State Park 1980[Pt. 2]

Below are but a few quotes (from it) were Reagan directly and harshly confronted, challenged and ridiculed Carter. But Reagan was motivated by a consuming drive to win and save his beloved country and not to be "civil" and "respectful" to the man he saw destroying it:

"The lady, standing there in the harbor, has never betrayed us once, but this administration, in Washington has betrayed the working men and women of this country."

"His {Carter's} answer to all this misery: he tries to tell us that we're only in a reccession not a deppression. As if definitions, words relieve our sufferring. Let it show on the record that when the American people cried out for economic help, Jimmie Carter took refuge behind a dictionary. Well, if it's a definition he wants, I'll give him one. A reccession is when your neighbor loses his job. A depression is when you lose yours. And recovery is when Jimmie Carter loses his."

"I have talked with unemployed workers all across this country. I've heard their views on what Jimmie Carter has done to them and their families. They aren't interested in semantic quibbles. They're out of work and they know who put them out of work... Let him go to the unemployment lines and lecture those workers, who have been betrayed, on what is the proper definition for their widespread economic misery."

"Now, call this human tragedy whatever you want. Whatever it is, it's Jimmie Carter's. He caused it. He tolerates it and he's going to answer to the American people for it."

There are many more along the same lines. The entire speech is well worth a view to see how a patriot wins the Presidency from one who is wrecking the country he/she loves!

Who cares how he looks? He was peppered with questions about his political positions and he hit a home run with all of his answers. He makes guys like Paul, Gingrich, Santorum, Pawlenty, and Cain look small. They ought to fold their tents now and leave the field to Romney, Huntsman, and Perry. Bachman can be someone's VP pick.

When he said yesterday that he respected obama and wouldn’t attack him..... that was enough for me.
