Minorities groups said they would now take the case to the United Nations Human Rights Committee, arguing the ruling meant the Netherlands had failed to protect ethnic minorities from discrimination.
“The acquittal means that the right of minorities to remain free of hate speech has been breached. We are going to claim our rights at the U.N.,” said Mohamed Rabbae of the National Council for Moroccans.
Wilders, who has received numerous death threats and has to live under 24-hour guard, argued that he was exercising his right to freedom of speech when criticizing Islam.
Good. I hope he comes to America and applies for citizenship.

I suspect that this is similar to the hate speech case brought against Mark Steyn in Canada.
The authorities realized that throwing Mark Steyn in jail would be very bad publicity, so they let him off. But they are still fining and jailing people who are less well known, although I think maybe the Steyn case marked at least a partial turning point.
Same thing in this case. If they threw Geert Wilders in jail, it would make enormous publicity, and there would be a lot of backlash. But they may still continue to threaten, fine, and jail less prominent people.

The fact that he went through all of that for so longt will be a deterrent to others. “Free speech” is apparently quite an expensive thing in the EU
Have been waiting patiently for this most favorable outcome! Thank God for this victory for Mr. Wilders...I am sure he is more than elated as are all those supporting him throughout these court proceedings. What really great news this is indeed!
This is simply the Islamic push to use all resources of law and governance to move forward with their agenda. It has ceased to be a "Wilder" case of freedom of speech...this is all about Islam's push and their agenda. Period.

Now it will be interesting to see the fallout. While my first reaction is to expect muzzie riots/violence, at some point they will figure out that it’s not working for them any more. Which only makes me wonder what the ‘replacement outrage’ will be. I hope GW has military level security for himself, family etc.
But if they don’t go violent, watch for a swift increase on “I’m offended by...” charges to be tossed around like leaves in the wind (like even more running to the UN). That would be better than violence of course and even show the potential for them to act civilly. When THOSE charges and accusations fail, back to the violence no doubt.
