Many years ago, eyeglasses would eliminate you from being considered for the NYPD. There were also height restrictions as you had to be better than 5’7. All that went by the boards as they were deemed discriminatory. As a retired member of the NYPD, I think the comparative argument of eyeglasses is a good one. Also, keep in mind, that the NYPD can rid themselves of 1 experienced officer and hire almost 2 more with the same money. Pensions are an entirely different pool.
