Airbus is trouncing Boeing in their race to be the world's biggest planemaker, claiming over $72 billion worth of orders and commitments at the Paris Air Show, where the popularity of its new fuel-efficient jets twice broke records for the largest order ever.
Airbus CEO Tom Enders and AirAsia CEO Tony Fernandes signed off Thursday on an $18.5 billion order for 200 of Airbus' new A320neo, which has proven to be the star of the aviation industry's premier event.

Interestingly, the BIG winner in all this is Pratt & Whitney, of all things! Pratt & Whitney scored a large number of orders for the A320neo with PW1100G geared turbofan engine, and that means Pratt & Whitney will do final assembly of this engine here in the USA, using parts sourced from American, German and Japanese suppliers. I expect Boeing within the next year show a new "clean sheet" design single aisle airliner that will replace the 737-700 to 737-900 models, also powered by this innovative engine.

They clip buildings, they clip other jets at the terminal. If the plane is too big for the pilots’ situational awareness maybe they need to have 10 feet clipped off each side.
