Lucky for me, I’ll be retiring later this year before they make this mandatory.
It’s interesting to see how society has accepted, and/or been forced to accept, all of this.
At the time of the very first homosexual parade in San Diego, the organizers were told by police that they couldn’t guarantee their safety during the march. Times were very different then. The police of the time were fearful that the sight of a homosexual march would trigger violence.
Of course nowadays, the cops are there as they would be at any public event, just to direct traffic and keep an eye on things. There’s no threat of public revulsion and/or violence directed at these marchers anymore.
Some are even promoting it as a fun family event. After the parade, there will be a big public celebration in Balboa Park. Bring the family, we are told.
