That would be Pancho Villa’s raid on Columbus, NM. Probably the dumbest thing any Mexican has done regarding Mexico/U.S. relations. The incident set in stone American attitudes towards Mexicans as a bunch of bloodthirsty bandidos and poisoned relations from then on.

My grandfather lost his right arm in action against these invaders nearly 100 years ago. But I guess his sacrifice was all for naught in the end.
