ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - Gay marriage will become legal in New York state after the Republican-led state Senate voted to approve it. Advocates are calling it a historic step as New York stands to become the sixth but by far the largest state to legalize same-sex marriage.
Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo lobbied hard for the bill and has promised to sign it.
The Senate vote is viewed as a major gain in an effort to allow gay marriage nationally.

Jim, you know my posting record on this forum.
Today I got two freepmails from two posters who just signed up today calling me a bigot for expressing my long held Conservative Christian viewpoint on Free Republic.
Apparently these brand new trolls are doing mass freep mails to those of us who are trying to defend the institution of Marriage and traditional values.
After posting their nasty screeds for the forum to see, I am now being accused by the Admin Moderator of "actively promoting the agenda of the trolls (i.e., the homosexual lobby).
I am not about to sit still and let ANYONE on this forum make that accusation against me.
Jim, if you tell me I'm wrong, then I will apologize for breaking any unwritten rule about posting nasty freep mails from poster who just signed up to harrass us through the freep mail process.
I would like your permission to post the nasty freep mails and my responses to those freep mails. Both of the posters have been banned already.
Jim, if you honestly think that Procon and I are "actively promoting the agenda" of these pro-homosexual trolls by posting their unsolicited freep mails, then suspend me or ban me.
