LDS farm land produces food to stock the “bishop’s storehouse”. 5he
food resources are made available to church members having
financial difficulties. They do some work on church properties as
“in kind” labor for the food. It’s short term assistance to get people
back on their feet. The church also rounds up those resources to help
people around the world when natural disasters strike. Processing of
the crops into finished products is accomplished by members of the
church volunteering time. I’ve filleted hundreds of pounds of tuna in
an evening. One night I ran the canning machine. 100,000 six ounce cans of tuna were produced that night. We had close to 60 people working that shift.
