Over Obama?! How dare he!

Giuliani dropped out in January of 2008 and Perry then endorsed McCain over the other Republicans, not over Obama. Hillary and Edwards were still in it when Perry endorsed McCain and nobody knew who the Democratic nominee would be for another five months or so.

If you are making a joke about Perry being a former Democrat or about Perry picking Giuliani over Huckabee, Duncan Hunter, Fred Thompson, Romney, etc. and then picking McCain when Giuliani fell apart, then you'll have to excuse me, I've been working outside off and on all day and it's hot.

While there weren't any actual conservatives that Perry could have chosen from the Republican field, he certainly chose the most liberal Republican. Of course, Perry didn't pick Giuliani for his positions, he picked him because Giuliani was scratching Perry's back and wanted him to scratch his in return.

He also chose the only one nominated.

Choosing someone not in the running would have been better?

Or should he have backed Obama?
