Tonight, around 11 p.m., a group of at least 60-70 African American youth marched down one of the side streets (W. Thrush) to the 4 lane main drag (Sheridan). They were yelling threats to white residents. Things such as we need to kill alll the white people around here.

Checked some statistics on the Web:
PEORIA CITY: 65% White; 28% Black; Asian, Hispanic other less than 4% each.
PEORIA SCHOOLS: 62% Black, 33% White.

Funny how ratios always seem to get inverted like that when a city’s Black population approach or are greater than 20%. Albany, NY; Boston MA come to mind.

Incidentally, “Peoria School District 150” ranks 697th of 834 Illinois school districts according to SchoolDigger ratings.

Just how do you "PROVE your threatned status" after the fact, when the cops finally feel safe enough to show up to do the paperwork? Because they sure won't get there in time to save you.

Overbuilding is the result of government intervention in the banking industry. That problem is self-correcting as we type.

Are you implying that people should not have the freedom and liberty to live where they want and can afford? It sounds like you want the government to tell us where to live and who we should live next to.

Isn’t it possible that people are leaving to get away from the violence, the drugs, the prostitution, the racism, and the hatred? Isn’t it possible people want their kids to live where they aren’t crammed up next to their neighbors, they have fields and forests their kids can play in, and they don’t hear traffic and sirens day and night?

My kids can catch crawfish, go horseback riding, or go build a fort in the woods. Why should they be forced to live where the would catch rats, watch hookers ride bareback, or build forts in dirty alleys?

The problem is not liberty. The problem is a decaying society that ignores decency and righteousness.

The problem isn’t that some people are living where they desire. The problem is that some people are living lives of crime.

Peoria is my hometown. The intersection of Thrush & Sheridan in not in Pekin. It’s in the middle of Peoria.

Mine too, I live in North Pekin now and I can assure you, this didn't happen in Pekin.

I'm only wondering now, how I managed to live here for almost 5 decades and have never until today heard of the "Peoria Chronicle".

However, the first time I tried a search using google maps,it kept showing a mall-filled area between Pekin and Peoria.

Not a single "mall" that I'm aware of between Peoria and Pekin. I've lived here (between Peoria and Pekin) for more than 40 years.

Between the two are East Peoria, Creve Couer, Marquette Heights and North Pekin, not a mall in any of them. A few little "shopping centers" perhaps but almost all residential out side of the W-M area in E.P.

I grew up near Forrest Hill & Knoxville. It was full of nice middle class neighborhoods. Now it’s a cesspool.

I think that's very close to where one of my cousin's lived. Is that not too far from something that is like a state agricultural center? It was very nice back in the 1970s. My directions may be messed up but it seems that Forrest Hill was an east/west street and that if you went west it wasn't too far until you'd turn left at some point to go down west of Bradley Park and hit the main road that goes out across the flood plain and across Kickapoo Creek.

Forrest Hill is a long through street. I was in between Prospect & Sheridan. It was so nice back in the day...truly a great place to grow up. sigh.

As a young child we lived on Farmington Road, next to what was the Stevens Addition. Rural, at the time. Is that also a ghetto, now? That would have been in the 1940s.

I'm not familiar with the Stevens Addition. Where along Farmington? Before you go up the hill after Kickapoo Creek or after? When you lived there was there still a Stafford's Dairy on Farmington and the road that went over to the airport? Ever hear of North Range Road? There was a cluster of radio towers on the north side of Farmington after Pleasant Valley and before Norwood. Out past the turnoff to Norwood on Farmington, heading toward Hanna City, there was a radar installation of some sort. My dad was a chaplain for the unit stationed there.

Can you imagine the outcry if the races were reversed? The AG and every other official would be out there calling for investigations, more diversity training, etc etc.
