Washington (CNN) Sen. Jim DeMint is criticizing President Obamas decision to draw down troops in Afghanistan, telling CNN Chief Political Correspondent Candy Crowley that the United States needs to finish the job there.
Im concerned about what the president said earlier this week, DeMint, a South Carolina Republican, said. I think we need to finish the job to honor the people that have lost their lives.
(snip)
While DeMint supported leaving American troops in Afghanistan, he said the faltering U.S. economy couldnt support intervention in other places around the world, including Libya.
Its not a matter anymore of what we want to do or what we should do, DeMint said. We certainly want to protect lives in Libya, in Yemen, and other places. Frankly we cant afford it anymore. We cant continue to be the sugar daddy to the world when we have to borrow money from China to do our mission in Libya.

The problem is there has never been a coherent, rational and, most of all, honest explanation from our so-called leaders of just what the “job” is.
The problem is that you will never finish there unless you kill everyone there. Unless that happens, there will ALWAYS be another Taliban to try to kill you.
Bin Laden is dead, the job in Afghanistan is finished.
Are the leaders of that group coming from Russia, China, India, Egypt?
Maybe in 10 -15 years, but not tomorrow
I agree, the job is finished, this needs to end.
Exactly right, the comment about "finishing the job" is historically ignorant.
What is “finishing the job” in Afghanistan? Are we there to wipe out the Taliban or to pay loads of money in an ignornant attempt to social engineer the Taliban? Even after all the money we have poured into Iraq, after we leave, the meat heads will resume power and run the place into hell.
Wars are consequences for attacking the US. Afghanistan got whacked for not turning over Bin Laden in the aftermath of 911. Iraq got whacked mainly because the UN did not force Sadam to abide by the cease fire terms of the Gulf War. He should have been taken out by Bush, Sr. because Sadam was a threat to the US. But instead the son had to do it because daddy was playing footsies with the globalists rather than conducting a war focused on US interests.
Wars are not a politically correct, international dance of American traitors and their charity - the spilling of our blood and robbing treasury for the “progress” of an unconstitutional and anti-American ideology called globalism.
