I stand corrected. You all make excellent points. I was comparing Obama only to Clinton’s opportunism and narcissism, but Clinton at least knew something about what he was supposed to do as President. Obama neither knows nor cares about the job at hand.

Shirley MacLaine was great in that scene! LOL!

You think you’re going to be offended by a graphic sex scene-—but it was hysterically funny-—McClaine faking the Big O-—or did Chance do the deed?

Speaking of movie stars............

Virginia Gibson, Marilyn Monroe, Mitzi Gaynor, Leslie Caron, Tony Curtis and John Derek at the 1952 Golden Globe Awards.

The ladies all look so demure----except Marilyn.

She seems to be saying, "I know how I get here and so do you."

Probably the best movie ever. At least to me it was. That is the one that Peter Sellers received the Oscar for. Most people had no idea what the movie was.

Sellers was absolutely brilliant in the film. Sometimes he gave us a hint of that irascible Sellers smile——but most of the time he was Chance.

“Being There” was a 1971 novella written by Jerzy Kosinski..... the screenplay was co-authored by Kosinski. I dont know if he meant it that way——but conservatives like the film b/c it makes wealthy, politically-connected liberals look stupid.......b/c they believe the simple Gardner is an intellectual——and that everything he says is politically savvy.

A nice touch was that it starred some of Hollywood’s well-known liberals-—Melvyn Douglas, and Shirley McClaine.

Obama is not Chauncey Gardner. He’s Bill Clinton. Why doesn’t anyone suggest that? He’s the same old opportunistic, narcissistic, good-time Charlie who charmed his way into the White House, determined to milk the job for all it is worth.

Oppportunistic? Sure.

Narcissistic? By all means.

Determined to milk the job? Okay, I guess.

Good time Charlie? C'mon.

He likes to golf, but he doesn't seem to be very much fun to be around.

Charming? No. There was a mystique created around him, but he's no charmer.

he's no charmer.

I don't see it either. Real charm comes from an inner confidence. He's a confidence man, all right--a trickster, a huckster.

FYI: Being There was a novel before it became a script. And before that it was another novel that Kosinski allegedly plagiarized, and indisputably was influenced by.
