SHE blew that interview, not Chris Wallace. This is pure, out and out deflection from her lousy performance. And if I was Chris Wallace, I would NOT have apologized. This whole thing was reported ccmpletely out of context.
HE did not suggest that she was unserious OR a flake. He said that was the rap on her from OTHER people and he asked her straight out. Shame on her. She stunk up that whole interview. It was embarrassing.

I agree with Post #14. She does act like a flake sometimes but more importantly she should just let the criticism roll off her like a politician should. I have the same problem with my governor who told a reporter when asked if he sent his children to public school that it was none of her business. He should have said that he was PROUD but obliged to send his children to private school even though he paid $38,000 in property taxes the previous year. If people don’t have a thick skin, they certainly don’t belong in politics.

I agree Mesta...and was surprised Bachman didn’t respond in a way that she could have and made some real points by doing so.

Wallace might have better framed the remark...but she didn’t do well in her response IMO. She has to get on mark or she’ll never make it thru the first part of what’s coming with the press....friend or foe.

I agree. She blew that interview big time. Her answers sucked and were milk toast. Rollins is ruining her. She sounds like Romney.

Yes, he did. Hiding behind the "that was the rap on her from OTHER people" is pretty silly. How's this: Chris, others say you are an idiot (or fill in the blank for something worse). ARE you an idiot?

This was a stupid question and did not belong in a serious interview of a potential presidential candidate.

Sounds like something a flake would ask, instead.

I watched it an I thought he made a fool of himself asking such a ridiculous question.

"He said that was the rap on her from OTHER people and he asked her straight out."

OTHER people have told me that you molest puppies, abuse children, and dabble in transvestitism. Do you?

“He said that was the rap on her from OTHER people and he asked her straight out.”

The “OTHER people” approach to questioning is cowardly and allows the questioner to ask/imply that there’s something there. The best way to handle that approach is easy, simple and cuts it off at the knees. She should have looked Wallace in the eye and said, “Who, Chris? I want names.” If Wallace doesn’t provide them, case closed. If he does, the names will indicate an agenda on the part of the name caller. Easy.

Don’t accept the premise that the media provides. Challenge them at every opportunity.

I'd have to agree.

ANYONE REMEMBER WHO ASKED THIS RUDE QUESTION? "You already are the oldest president in history and some of your staff say you were tired after your most recent encounter with Mr. Mondale. I recall yet that President Kennedy had to go days on end very little sleep during the Cuba missile crisis. Is there any doubt in your mind that you would be able to function in such circumstances?"

You don't know that it was HENRY TREWHITT from the Baltimore Sun because Reagan handled that slap against his age like this:

PRESIDENT REAGAN: I want you to know also I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit for political purposes my opponent's youth and inexperience."

Mondale later said he thinks that was the point even he knew he was toast.

If Wallace had asked her the flake question and she hit it out of the park, then nobody would be slamming the interviewer.

She could've stayed on message about how FLAKY a party is in the midst of a severe debt crisis are floating the idea of MORE SPENDING....and probably not just flaky but mentally unstable.

She could've hammered the left's inherent misogynist hypocrisy against the "wrong feminism" of her and Palin by calling her names like that.

She could've reminded people how they destroyed Santorum for "stepping near Hillary's space" during that debate, and yet it's ok for reporters now to essentially verbally slap her across the face with these terms like "flake."

But she didn't. Same as Palin. If Palin had hit Couric's "what do you read" question out of the park, Couric would've remained a zero. Palin could've challenged her on relevance of tree killer "Dinosaur Media" etc.

Critical points like that don't create character in a candidate, they reveal it. For better or worse.

Screwing up an occassional interview is God’s way of keeping our nearly perfect conservative women humble. I don’t think she screwed up. I will support Rep. Bachmann if Gov. Palin does not enter the race.
