Bachmann Launches Presidential Campaign
Fox News ^ | 27 June 2011 | Staff

Rep. Michele Bachmann, stressing her Iowa roots and appealing directly to Tea Party voters, came out swinging Monday as she formally launched her campaign for president.

Buoyed by a strong showing in several recent polls, the Minnesota congresswoman cast her campaign as the voice for "constitutional conservatives" looking for a government that lives within its means while giving the private sector the room to grow. She launched a broadside against President Obama for racking up too much debt while stimulating too little job growth and vowed to make him a "one-term president."

"We cannot afford four more years of Barack Obama," she declared, later adding: "We can win in 2012 and we will win."

In her announcement, Bachmann described a special bond with Iowa, the nation's leadoff caucus state. She held the kickoff in her hometown of Waterloo, Iowa, and called herself a "descendent of generations of Iowans," saying the state is where she learned "everything I needed to know." She also appealed to another vital primary constituency, calling herself part of the Tea Party movement and defending it as a cross-section of Republicans, independents and disaffected Democrats.

Perhaps a reality check!!! Who gave her the poll bounce but MSM? Who do you think does the polling for DEM REG?

Not suggesting that MB has no support in Iowa, for sure she does, just not that it`s anyway near what they are pushing.

To believe this poll, one has to believe that Romney is out front.

Is team Romney now going to re evaluate taking part in the IOWA Straw Poll etc? Team Romney knows they are not a player in Iowa, and they are not about to all of a sudden believe this poll....

UNLESS it`s a poll to try and manufacture support for Romney in Iowa! The same people would want to manufacture support for MB as well.

Ya so Romney is now a player in IOWA, I bet he is the most surprised person on the planet./.SARC

Next we will hear that Rudy has a chance in IOWA.

ANTI PALIN media/pollsters/rep establishment is pushing MB!!!!

Bachmann is a better speaker

Really? What camera is she speaking to? Obama is also a great 'speaker'. Nice qualification, there.

Bachmann didn’t quit halfway through

She also hasn't sponsored a single piece of legislation.

can handle the media

Yeah, that flake question was a template for how to go after the LSM.

Truly great news and a very good person to be able to vote for. Certainly a breath of fresh air, for my family. We were so concerned that a RINO was going ruin this election...we would have written in a name, rather than vote for a RINO.

Just win-ism, is not going to be a part of our lives.

Palin fans “worried”???

Who’s worried? Name one. Most of the negatives on FR towards Bachmann didn’t start happening until she backstabbed Palin. You’ll notice that is when 90% of the negatives from Palin supporters started. And now, we have gotten to see her in action some & things we have dismissed before or overlooked, we simply aren’t willing to anymore. It has always bothered me that she has trouble actually answering specific questions asked of her. She hires people who have no respect for her & THAT also makes me question her judgement.

The media loves Bachmann therefore I don't trust her. It seems like she is being groomed as Romney's VP.
What media? Most places present her as a flake or fanatic, and even Fox News brings people to call her unqualified or unelectable.

BAchman is beating Romney, then Palin or Perry step in splitting the conservative vote and Romney gets the nod.

Perry would likely take more votes from Romney than anyone else so I don't see his entry into the race as a problem. It would end up being Perry vs. a more conservative alternative.

Bachmann believe’s in reducing immigration. Palin supported amnesty-lite McCain. Bachmann opposes helping Al Qaeda take Libya. Palin supports the nebulous rebels.

Exactly. In fact, she’s fast becoming public enemy #1 in the media’s eyes right now. ...including at Fox News.

What do you mean “reducing immigration”? How? Does she want to jail those here illegally and deport them?

All I’ve seen is puff pieces saying she is in the “tied for the lead” with Romney. I’ve never heard a negative thing about her on the news.

Bachmann voted against cutting the funds to wage war against Libya.

Bachmann owns Libya.

...while Michele has executive business experience.

Do tell, doing what exactly?

Aside from what ever she did at her husband's "clinic", she's been getting Government checks since her first job with the IRS and then from her public office salaries. And don't list the family dairy farm.

Even the clinic got around $30,000 from the government.

Sorry, not in the Constitution is another cop out. Government has been making trade deals, regulations, setting minimum wages, taxing whether it’s in the Constitution or not. Unemployment is blamed on the President at election time. If a Republican gets elected he/she won’t get away by saying fixing the economy is not in the Constitution any more than Obama’s excuses. 150,000,000 voters won’t understand.
