Is one born heterosexual?

Yes. That is man's natural state. Sexual deviancies are caused by environmental factors.

You mean self-absorbed, self-centered, self-serving homosexual men have multiple instances of unprotected sex? Homosexuality is just partner-assisted masturbation.

I actually believe some people are born gay

Homosexuality is a behavior. Is being a thief genetic? A murderer? A pedophile?

If you are born with 9 toes, or some crippling condition, it is not considered ‘normal’.

Having 9 toes is not a behavior.

That said you win the lottery when you get HIV - the prize? A LIFETIME of full Social Security benefits - no questions asked - for as long as you live...

This isn't true. A family friend died of Aids because he couldn't afford the medication and his kidney's shut down. The government did NOT pay for it.

re: “Well, looking at all the natural catastrophes, diseases like small pox etc., congenital birth defects etc., and other maladies afflicting Man, I’d kinda have to say that God is sadistic.”

Ok, so you’re conclusion is that all natural catastrophes and diseases, birth defects, etc. must be laid at God’s feet because if “He” exists, then a loving “God” wouldn’t allow such things, and, if “He” does exist, and allows such things to happen, then you’ve decided that the only possible, reasonable conclusion is that “He” cannot be good or loving and must therefore be “sadistic”.

Beside the fact that you have apparantly brushed aside the many thoughtful Christian thinkers over the ages who have attempted to give answers and meaning to the problem of suffering and evil -

Then, how do you as an atheist (I’m making this assumption, so if I’m wrong, please correct me) account for evil and what comfort can you give those who are enduring suffering and catastrophes?

You can be snide if you like but Dean Hamer and Simon LeVay have both stated that homosexuality is not genetic. The press simply chooses to ignore them. Hamer is a homosexual geneticist.

So what? Hundreds of scientists say that global warming is man made, does that make it true?

Nope. Disease etc is because of sin and this is a fallen world. What God created was perfect. Man, through sin, destroyed it. God then gave man a way to live with Him again through Christ. The earth is a place of sorrow because of man's choices.

How could anyone's (bad) behavior have a causal effect upon earthquakes, tidal waves, tornadoes, and such?

How could committing a sin have an effect upon plate tectonics, etc.?

In the event that you say that it "simply can" - then I'd ask: Is this principle (sin -> dislocation of tectonic plates) still valid today?

Regards,

a committed homosexual relationship typically DOES NOT presume monogamy

A number of years ago, maybe 8 years or so, homosexuals were redefining the word monogamous to mean one committed relationship but their definition of monogamous also included sex with others outside their committed relationship.

I don't know if you remember that, but using their definition for monogamous caused a little confusion around here if we didn't include </sarcasm> tags.

Beside the fact that you have apparantly brushed aside the many thoughtful Christian thinkers over the ages who have attempted to give answers and meaning to the problem of suffering and evil -

How is that apparent? Because my opinion differs from yours (or theirs)? No, I have not "brushed them aside." I have given them due consideration, examined their arguments, and come to my own conclusions. (Conclusions, by the way, which many other reputable persons share.) Isn't that what a thinking person is supposed to do? Use their critical thinking faculties?

Then, how do you as an atheist (I’m making this assumption, so if I’m wrong, please correct me) account for evil [...]

To begin with, the word "evil" is highly charged and also vague. Specifically, since you are asking about "Evil" with a capital "E" - I know that you didn't spell it that way, but the lack of a qualifier like "certain" (as in "certain evils") or of a restrictive subordinate clause (as in "evil caused by natural forces" or "evil attributable to Man") forces me to infer what you meant. So, for the purpose of my reply, let me make it clear that I am referring - not to moral evil - but rather to natural catastrophes.

So, how do I account for natural catastrophes (earthquakes, etc.)?

Ask a geologist! He can explain why we have earthquakes far better than I.

By the way, many "thoughful Christian thinkers" - including the present Pope - also believe that natural catastrophes have natural causes. Also that solar eclipses are not caused by a dragon swallowing the sun...

[...] and what comfort can you give those who are enduring suffering and catastrophes?

How would I comfort a victim of such catastrophes? I would try to alleviate their material suffering and be of good cheer! I would also attempt to take concrete measures to protect us all against such catastrophes (installing tsunami warning systems, etc.)

Regards,

While there may be scientists on both sides of the global warming issue, there are no scientists supporting the born-that-way theory.

As DJ MacWoW said, environment is the key factor. Gay scientists Hamer and LeVay both admit environment is a major factor as will every credible scientist. In fact, there isn't a single scientist, credible or not that has any scientific evidence homosexuals are born-that-way. Both Hamer and LeVay have stated they don't believe any evidence will ever be found supporting the born-that-way theory.

Why? Because they've looked at the evidence and the evidence states environment is a major factor in determining our sexuality. In addition to that, there are many former-homosexuals and their numbers are growing, some of whom are regular freepers.

We can help you with your ignorance on the subject. But if you want to remain stupid there's nothing we can say to help with your education.

I'm sorry that you don't "get it".

Hamer had to admit that he couldn't find a "gay gene" in years of trying. LeVay said there was no "gay gene" but to gain acceptance they had to convince people that there was. Both of these men are homosexuals. Both were trying to prove "gay gene".

Genes do not control behavior. People are not born thieves or liars. Behavior is learned.

Exactly.

I've met homosexuals who had been in "committed" relationships (e.g. living with the same person) for well over a decade, but they would both occasionally have sex with other people.

All of creation was cursed. Everything in the earth and on it. That includes the earth itself. Adam was told that he would now have to till the earth and that it would reward him with weeds. The earth, and man, has been devolving.

Not in my house.

My wife and I have unprotected sex all of the time. And I like it. And so does she.

It is not a dirty thing. Well, at least not a bad thing.
