Another reason I refuse to have a Facebook or Myspace page.

I agree, but I wonder if it could become a detriment to NOT have a Facebook page when looking for a job. Some people consider me a bit odd for opting out of social networking sites.

My son has a closed fb page, so he did a google search with his name... bingo, groups he’d joined showed up as well as those “new phone, need numbers groups.” He went through and deleted his info and left the groups. Quite a few of his European friends do not use their real name on facebook, and being “found” by their employers was the number one reason given. I think the problem must arise if you have friends who have open pages, and they can check their wall or pictures they have linked you in.
Fortunately my kids both have been trained, that whatever you put on the internet can be there forever.
