I'm afraid rioting is what's going to happen now when open-air music festivals and rock concerts are scheduled in many areas of the country, particularly cities.

Although, come to think of it, I haven't heard of many such events this summer as in the more carefree past.

I think a combination of high ticket prices, bad economy and a growing fear in many folks of being in big crowds will be shutting a high percentage of outdoor entertainment events down.

The rock bands, rapper, singers of contemporary "music" (ugh) and various ga-ga groups have to be hurting big time. I doubt there's many bookings for huge outdoor concerts as in the past. Since so many of them are lefties, evironmental whackos, starry-eyed idealists and vacant-minded Obama voters, I suspect a diminishing or disappearing income will be a wake-up call to some of them concerning that hopey, changey thing.

I wonder what "Taste of Chicago" (huge, multiple-days, outdoor food festival along the lake-front park area) will be like this summer. I wouldn't go there for a million dollars.

Wowsa! Free food for all in a flash mob!

We just got home from Chicago and didn’t attempt to go to the taste. After the problems at the beach and then the flash mob at the drug store in the Magnificent Mile, and the fact that I can’t carry up there, we decided it wasn’t worth it.
