Greetings TwelveOfTwenty:

Appropriate the same amount for next FY as this FY, a freeze; less for next FY, a cut. That's the engineer in me, attention to detail matters.

When the Medical Care and College Education Inflation Rates are factored in, Bachmann has no choice but admit a VA spending freeze affects veterans. Deny that fact, Bachmann would have lost favor with me.

All this pales in comparison with what Pres_ _ent 0bama proposed for VA, and why even democRat Senators slam(med) plan for wounded vets to use private insurance.

Cheers,
OLA

From http://bachmann.house.gov/UploadedFiles/01_27_11_Potential_Spending_Cuts_and_Estimated_Money_Saved.pdf, "Reduce Veterans’ Disability Compensation to account for Social Security Disability Insurance payments."

Don't get me wrong, I'll support Bachmann. This wasn't a reflection of her views of the importance of Veteran's benefits, but a reflection of the dire straits our economy is in. The bottom line is that if the economy and country collapses, the Vets will get nothing. We can't let that happen

She has been a supporter of Veteran's issues in the past, and I believe she will be in the future. This was a bad move on her part, one she quickly backed away from.
