I was not borned here. I became a Texan when I was in the 8th grade and had to learn and recite W.B. Travis’ letter to All Americans in the World. I have been here for over 40 years and I bleed Lone Star if you cut me.
God Bless Texas, and God Bless America.
William Barret Travis was 26 years old when he fell at a little church compound down in Bexar County. Have a look at my home page and you may get an understanding of true valor.
Covers the feeling well. I understand totally.
Some of my ancestors were born here during the Republic. Others came here during Reconstruction after the Civil War, they were burned out of AL.
Across the state we have differences, but if someone from the outside threatens, are they in for a surprise. I can still hear a rebel yell.
I’ve been here only a couple years, but as soon as I set foot in Texas, I knew I was home.
Yes, things are different in Texas. My ex girlfriend from LA visitied me in January and summed it up: Texas is harsher and tougher, and Texas makes no apologies. The same goes for its people.
I’d bleed for Texas (but would prefer to make any dumb bastard who crossed us bleed instead). Many native born Texans may not consider me to be a Texan. Fair enough. But I do.
I’m from KS but lived mostly in OK. Don’t feed me Perry, when I can have Palin.
