Bush-bashing is a favorite past time at FR.
But even those who love to hate them must admit that the Bushes are people of honor. You don’t have to agree with all points politically to recognize good character.
Or to recognize a lack of it, which is, I am convinced, what the Bushes know about Perry and why they refused to back him in his last re-election bid.
Perry was G W’s lieutenant governor. They know each other well.
Not good for Rick.
Freepers will bash just about anybody, in a few years they’ll bash Palin or someone new and be talking about the good old W days. Before that, of course, we’ll have to go through the Opuses of 2012. Nothing much really changes around here except the latest crop of trolls. But we still have fun! :o)
BTW: They despised Reagan as much as they do Palin. Bushes should stay out of politics and be philanthropists.
Please. The Bush’s are not our friends anymore than Clinton was our friend. He was just a front-piece. Decoration.
Actually the Texas Governor does not have a Lt. Governor in the same sense as the Governor of most other states. In Texas, the Governor and Lt. Governor do not run as a team and seldom is either dependent on or beholden to the other. When Bush was first elected Governor, the Lt. Governor was a longtime Democrat (Bob Bullock) who had much more power and influence that Bush. The Governor has limited executive power while the Lt. Governor is a very powerful legislative official.
Texas's unique governmental structure makes the Governor's office an ideal position from which to seek national office as the incumbent is in a position to claim credit for everything that goes well while avoiding blame for anything that goes wrong.
That may be, but the Bush camp sure showed their RINO bonafides when they backed Hutchinson.
