You keep trying to pull this “honor” thing like military officers should be lemmings going over the cliff if someone says we’re not being “honorable.”
We’re supposed to be smart. “Smart” means not to commit career suicide over a demonstrably indefensible position. GEN Petraeus did not throw away a brilliant 30-year career over a lost cause, which is saying something since he was the guy who said he could win in Iraq in its worst days.
It’s very easy for someone who has no stake in such career suicide to demand that someone else do it, so I’ll ask you again, what do you think would happen if GEN Petraeus did such as you wanted him to?
Do the military academies teach an honor code that says this applies expect if it will hurt a career or is a “lost cause”. (Just wondering)
Does the oath to defend the Constitution have an exception clause that says, “This applies except if it hurts a career or is a ‘lost cause’ “? ( Just wondering)
